In our early League days we put together quite a list of managers who lost to us, then were sacked shortly after - seems a while ago now. How many does that make it?

Since everything crashed on here and the host was changed, we can only go back to 2011... most of the sackings were in the first 3 years. Not making fun of the sacking situation.
I will start off with Paul Simpson twice

Andy Awford was League Two Manager-of-the-month in February.

Bury manager Kevin Blackwell sacked last season after losing to us.
Going back a long way we used to get loads sacked in non-league. In the season we nearly got relegated 2001 we stuffed Kettering 5-1 at their place, which lead to a big demonstration and the sack.

If I was Jim Bentley I'd be getting mighty hacked off as it seems that ' losing to a team like Morecambe ' seems to be a recurring theme and a benchmark for the sacking of rival managers.
Just how hard do Jim, and Ken McKenna, have to work in these circumstances before genuine credit is given for the way they keep us away from relegation every season ?
No, it can't always be as pretty as last Saturday - it can;t always be - but it is effective in maintaining League football against the odds.
Teams like Morecambe ?
Yes, there's no disgrace in losing to an established solid League 2 club like us.
( Even if your gates are 10 tmes ours )

He's been given a smaller budget than previous incumbent Justin Edinburgh had, and currently only has four contracted players:

Paul Cook 1/3 favourite for Portsmouth job now. That'll be them league winners if he goes there. Surprising really as Chesterfield could still go up to the championship in the playoffs !

Got to beat the Nobbers yet though. Still, having said that, knowing PNE's track record in the Play Offs...
Competed in 9, never won one yet.

Tranmere appoint Gary Brabbin as their manager. A good appointment for them.

There's next seasons champions then. Imagine a lot of Chesterfield players will follow him that are out of contract.

According to some Chesterfield fans Dean Saunders seems to be favourite to take over & it is not going down very well amongst them.
Warburton of Brentford would fit the role seen he will be out of a job soon.

Leam Richardson, his assistant, also going to Fratton.
Just hope and pray Chesterfield don't come enquiring about Jim .........

Reading various comments from the Chesterfield forum they seem to think the chairman won't splash out due to the amount of debt they are in. If true it is Dean Saunders, I can see them tumbling back to league 2 as he did nothing at Wrexham or Doncaster. Can't see it being Jim but we have to be prepared that sooner or later some club is going to be knocking on the door for him with how well he works on a tight budget.

Dean Saunders set to be confirmed as new Chesterfield manager today.
League 2 beckons the season after next then Spireites.
Saunders has taken clubs he has managed to RELEGATION in 3 of the last 4 seasons (Doncaster Rovers, Wrexham, and last season, Crawley Town)
