Lancashire Senior Cup - Blackpool away
Posted: Fri Aug 14, 2015 8:14 am
This is the third season that National League (Conference Premier) clubs have been included in the Senior competition rather than the Challenge Trophy (ex Junior Cup).
The move followed a successful plea from The Football Conference, instigated by Barrow Secretary, Russell Dodd, to have County Cups’ primacy of fixtures over National Division games removed, on the basis that the FA did not deem them first team fixtures for teams in that division.
The dates for the First Round have yet to be fixed but have a much longer period for potential dates than in the Challenge Trophy.
Football League sides generally field a mixture of fringe and youth players in the competition and the final is often played in the following pre-season.
The holders are Bury who beat Rochdale 2-1 at The County Ground, Leyland on Wednesday evening.
The full draw is:
1. Everton v Preston North End
2. Barrow v Blackburn Rovers U-21s
3. Wigan Athletic v Bolton Wanderers
4. Blackpool v Morecambe
5. Accrington Stanley v Bury
6. Southport v Fleetwood Town
7. Rochdale v Manchester United
