Portsmouth Predictions Please.

Postby Sakhalin Shrimp » Wed Aug 19, 2015 9:03 pm

Portsmouth 2-0 Shrimps.
Hope I'm wrong.

Mrs Sak, ever the optimist, thinks it'll be a Shrimps 1-2 win.
Hope she's right.

it will finish 5 games with 1 goal

unless we try something different, or they get a player sent off early on.

Depends on what team Jim puts out. Hopefully Ellison doesn't start ! Got a feeling with us being huge underdogs from r this one Jim will start with a 3-5-2 formation what we played for most of last season. Dugdale to come in along side edwards and parrish and maybe mullin upfront with Miller ? I'd take a draw all day but I can't even see that happening. Big test for some players who won't of played in front of a crowd like this before !

I'm starting to think that Morecambe need a proven goal scoring defender like big Dave Artell to show the forwards where the back of the opposition net is.

So I'm going for a hat-trick of easy 3-0 wins for Pompey over Morecambe.

Less of this negativity - they'll only score 2!

I can't see us breaking our duck of not scoring down there at Fratton.

Having said that, they won't score either.

Less of the negativity.

This year we will score.

Unfortunately they will still score 3

3-1 to Pompey

I never get them right so hopefully the Shrimps will go there , keep the ball on the ground and beat them.

If we can defend dead ball situations and score from our own then maybe, just maybe we'll come home with at least a point. Our corner routines are simply not working. Countless corners on Tuesday from us went begging without ever looking threatening, so it'll have to be a Lee special to get us on the scoreboard.

We'll come away with a 1 - 0 win.
Same as last season, couldn't win at home, but did well away against the better sides.

I don't think the routines themselves are the problem, it's more the fact we just don't have the personnel to capitalise from set pieces.

Drummy has departed as has Mark Hughes, and they were our main threats from dead ball situations. Gone are the days of the likes of Bentley, Artell, Fenton & Hughes who were good for about 5 goals a season each from set pieces. We've now got Parrish & Edwards at centre back who have scored a grand total of 1 goal in around 400 appearances between them.

We must be one of the shortest teams in the league this year, we would probably be better off just taking all our corners short rather than chucking it into the area for a 6 foot 4 clogger to head it clear with ease.
