MFC Scoreboard

Postby Brian C » Thu Aug 27, 2015 2:59 pm

Hopefully anyone who has been to the first couple of games has noticed some changes on the Scoreboard. I have totally re-written the controlling software to give us more features and control over what is displayed.
I will attempt to enhance it wherever I can, so any feedback or suggestions would be welcome.

Just in case you haven't noticed it yet below are some screenshots.

Not sure if anyone else had similar problems or if I need my eyes testing but the quiz was completely unreadable from the Omega stand for me but other than that it's a great improvement.

As for suggestions, would it be possible to display scores from other games at half time?

I thought that about the quiz as well, the font was too small.
I have increased it for the next one on Saturday, hopefully it will appear better.

I am currently working on a way automatically feed other match scores into the system for H'/T and F/T, but it's not as easy as I hoped it would be!

Sorry Mark, I captured that image whilst I was still in the time machine :-)

Better than most clubs outside the top 2 divisions...Barnsley's is atrocious...a complete embarrasment...the comment re half time scores re other leagues..this would be a fantastic addition if possible

I think it's very good, the addition of half time scores and added on time countdown would be even better.

I'll second the suggestion of counting added time.

Thanks for all the great comments.
I am working on showing other scores, but it may take a while to program.
Unfortunately I have been told by the club that we are prohibited by the Football League from displaying any additional time being played on the scoreboard.

Yes, showing that would make the Ref look a twonk at times, but the time is a minimum. The crowd would do a countdown at the end - spoilsports!

Bit odd of the FL to say that! Surely keeping the clock going rather than a countdown wouldn't do any harm? Ah well...

I suppose the point is, as Marky pointed out, the added time is a minimum. The ref can add extra time on to it during that added time to cover time wasting or stoppages during that time.

Some don't need a scoreboard for that.

Scoreboard is fantastic.

My 2 thoughts: 1; Cannot read the quiz questions from behind the goal. 2; Would prefer the second half to go from 45 - 90. Last week both halves were 0-45. As an accountant, I struggled to add 45 to 37 to see how long was left

The scoreboard should read 0-45, 45-90, etc.
I made a mistake last match and clicked the start at 0 button for the second half.
When I realised, it was too late start again! Sorry.

Is this the pic you meant:-

Brian,

Mrs A wanted me to e-mail the club to complement them on the improvements to the scoreboard. Typically, I never got around to it, but this is better, since I get to complement the man responsible. Well done that man.

Brilliant stuff Brian and really well done, it's a massive improvement.

My only comment was make the quiz something everyone can have a guess at, multiple choice or funny. The last one was very tough. Freez will write you a few rounds :-)

Top man!

Excellent stuff, just wondered if the second period should read 45 - 95 which would include the inevitable extra minutes....

I have been impressed with the new scoreboard.

Fleetwood were showing replays of goals on their scoreboard a couple of years back. Is that a possibility with your new software ?

Live video feeds would be possible, but we only have a small board, and it is very limiting on what can be shown and when. Also there are strict rules in the league about what can be shown live and especially replays. I believe replays of goals can be shown, but I don't have the time or video editing capabilities to show only specific parts from a live feed.
I am intending to show the official league highlights from previous matches as well as a few music videos.
Doing this has already meant I now cannot spend the match with my family behind the goal, and am pretty limited time wise for what I can do.
The programming for capturing latest scores is looking good so far, but it won't be online for a couple of weeks.
