Entertaining, committed, crowd behind them because they could see they were trying, no respect for opposition (leagues above), proper tackles, great goals... Brought back memories of Christie Park. Please take note Morecambe, hope you watched that game, for as a (Morecambe) lifetime season ticket holder, living in Morecambe... Who doesn't come any more... because of (Terrace/facilities (catering), cramped in, cattle style, back aching steps = no movement between friends, no chance of a pint at half time)... I miss our family Christie Park club so much... Rather watch Salford. (Better football and doesn't cost my mates as much)... Shame.

Think Salford might have to increase their capacity over the coming seasons

IF we drop a few divisions because of lack of support, we can easily relax the rules about segregation,as a non league team, drop our prices and just open the PMG stand to our 320 regulars like in the good old days. If you like salford so much, go and watch them, don't come on here whining, because We Cant do anything to help you, the club don't listen to us and it's not our fault.

Salford won't stay 'homely and non-league' for long the money they now have behind them. Segregation is unfortunately the price of progress. Apparently even if we dropped down the divisions we will never get the days back when we could float around the ground freely.

Come back Moose as you may see some committed, entertaining football at the Globe; maybe even the odd committed tackle and good goal. We may have gone off the boil a bit recently, but we have a far better squad of players than Salford City or the Morecambe of old and will prove that over the course of the season against much stronger opposition.

We do need to get people like Moose back but I don't think anyone knows how, short of inventing time travel. It might be useful if those people who don't come now could think about what could reasonably be done now to entice them to return?

Or is losing people like Moose part of progress? Do some people simply not want progress? I spoke with someone about the Salford City documentary and they said how it reminded them of "the good old days at Christie Park". But those 'good old days' were crowds of 300 playing bloody awful football! Because there were only a few hundred people, it really felt like we all mattered and it really was 'our' club.

It wasn't too far off the truth.

They were great days. But the ground was crumbling and the football was dire. If we'd stayed still, we'd now be playing Lancaster & Kendal. And, briefly as they passed us, Salford City.

Personally, I'm delighted we're a Football League club.

One of the players and one of the groundsmen were on breakfast TV on Saturday morning talking about the game and the new investment. The conversation went something like this :-

TV host - You've built a new snack bar haven't you?
Groundsman - Yes we have.
TV host - Is it better than the old one?
Groundsman - Yea it's a lot better.
TV host - In what way is it better?
Groundsman - Well there's no mice in it for one thing!

It is part of progress, those of us who remember the 'good old days' would love for it to be like that again, but we were all a heck of a lot younger and potentially filled with youthful optimism. It's up to the young guns to drive the club forward now, and the fanbase is the same, new young fans to inject new songs and invent an atmosphere that we can all buy into. Many of us old timers will still attend games but tend to drift further away from the cut and thrust of being participants. There is a lack of enthusiasm on the terraces in recent years and the lack of entertainment on the pitch has been partly responsible. We need to see more of the never say die spirit from the Carlisle game on the field to whip up the fans behind the goal. If there is nothing to cheer about during the game the atmosphere is flat and that discourages the new supporters who can travel a few miles down the road to be part of more passionate grounds and see (arguably) better quality players.

The club can't go back in time so the only way is forward. We all go together and have to accept things for what they are. Whilst this period seems to be frustrating it won't continue indefinitely. Let's hope the future holds the excitement of success not the gut clutching rush of failure

My problem with MFC is that since moving to the Globe the whole ethos of our club has changed, what happened to the family friendly club, who was everyone's second team, friendliest fans in the league, where the fans, club and board were all close all in it together etc etc. We now just seem like any other faceless league club and all the different sections of the club seem miles apart especially the board and fans. I don't think I could name more than two members of the board now never mind recognise them. Then they wonder why only 1000 people are turning up on a Tuesday night.

Maybe those Salford fans realise the dream of playing in the FL isn't all that it's cracked up to be but then surely you don't want just to stay at the level they are with the poor facilities.

Have a read of the Dagenham forum. It pretty much mirrors this place. Plenty bemoaning the loss of the family club they used to have in non league, players no longer drink in the bar and mingle with the fans after games etc etc.

Interesting to note that they haven't moved grounds and still have the same complaints we do which makes me think the problems can't just be blamed on the ground move, it's more about the transition from being a non league club to a Football League one and the move to the Globe is a bit of a red herring.

Possibly it is just the league thing but I am sure it didn't feel this bad in the first couple of years at CP maybe we were still all excited and giddy about been a league club at the time.

One thing that Jim did sort out was making players go into the bar afterwards.

Maybe the advice to Salford is enjoy the ride for a couple of seasons and then just become a solid Conference team. However I think their owners will have bigger plans that that.

I do watch the odd live game at the Globe yes, thing is though, my lifetime ticket doesn't allow me access to where most of the old crowd I used to stand with now watch the games. There used to be about 8/9 of us week in week out on the Carwash, where we had a good old chat and a laugh (which is for where I bought my ticket). It wasn't all about the football. Once we moved, one by one, they dropped off, as did other groups of friends who used to frequent, either stopped coming or moved to the seated area opposite for a far more luxurious experience and a pint (can't fault them for that). If I want to watch the home games now, I either stand on my own or pay to get in and join friends. I can't sell on my lifetime ticket - (yes I know it was in the Terms and Conditions, (not complaining about that, just never dreamt the new ground would be worse for watching the game...)) - to put towards a season ticket for the seated stand, just as much as I can't justify paying to get in every game, when I can watch for no charge opposite. I came the other week with my Dad and bought a couple of seats to watch the Crawley game, he can't stand for the duration due to a back complaint. We both enjoyed the game and had a couple of pints upstairs and agreed it's such a massive gulf from the depressing experience opposite. I just have to accept I am stuck with a ticket I am not going to use, which is a real pisser. So basically, I don't really come any more, nor do I try and encourage a mate or two to come down with me to pay £16 to stand on a narrow, cramped step in front of a prison wall with no atmosphere. (Not that they are cramped any more, looked empty from the seated side). I just pick the odd game here and there.

Why not contact the club and ask about a 'trade-in' for your Life Season Ticket? They'll probably let you pay an upgrade, then you can always be in a seat with a pint.

I'm sure you'll be able to transfer your lifetime ticket to seated stand if you contact the club and explain your circumstances Moose. I know others have been able to do something similar for a one-off cost. Unfortunately it probably will mean that you won't subsequently be able to transfer back to the new car wash, but it sounds like you're not to fussed about that anyway.
