I know we've still got a lot to do and it won't be easy but what about this for an idea?
After season ticket holders, anyone with the two fa cup ticket stubs are guaranteed first option on any potential home tie in the 3rd round

thing is, nobody would announce this beforehand in case they looked a right plonker after we got knocked out beforehand.
Would be good if it was the golden rule though, would certainly entice a few more in.
After all these years of struggling with attendances, imagine the clamber for:

Saturday 9th January
FA CUP 3rd Round
Morecambe v Manchester United

Which we then draw 1.1

Then I wake up........

We could do it for the Exeter and Mansfield games

If we drew Manchester United in Round 3, depending on a replay win over Whitehawk but then LOSE said replay v The 'Awks, we could always sell commemorative tickets for what might have been.

But the revenue from the said tickets allowed them to sign a Mr Davis on loan last season, when we couldn't afford it.

Do you really think anyone, who is not a regular fan, would actually buy a ticket for the Dagenham game and then the Whitehawk game just in case we did beat Dagenham, then beat Whitehawk, just in case we might get not just a home draw but play a top 4 Premiership team? If your plan worked, there wouldn't be room for all the glory hunters in January
There would certainly be some wheelerdealering in ticket stubs I will give you that.

My idea is better :lol:

For what it is worth, I think it is a good idea. We know that we have two home games in the FA Cup. No harm in advertising now that in the event of us reaching Round Three and being drawn at home, two ticket stubs will get you priority purchase opportunity. If we don't win either of the next two games, then we still get a potential boost in attendance. If we do win them, then get drawn away, then no problem.

Better still, if we win the games and people are attending in the hope of a 'big match', then they may start to attend league games too. We've not won an FA Cup game this season but we've potentially got some interest going!

No, but some of the ex-regular fans who've found something else to do instead of coming regularly may be tempted back for a bit of potential glory.

I remember when we were drawn at home v Ipswich in January 2001.

At the time we were averaging around 1000 per home game.

Fans who attended the pre Xmas league match v Scarborough were given a voucher to give them a priority purchase of an Ipswich ticket.

That Scarborough match attracted a crowd of almost 2500.
