the club/poppy pin small badges would be a good seller, all the premier league, championship, and a lot of L1 clubs have them even Blackpool.

I don't get these 'pins' or the sparkly poppies being worn by some women? Surely people are simply wearing ones they bought in previous years. I wonder how many people wear one but don't make a donation?

Part of modern life that Keith. People trying to spread "awareness" rather than actually getting involved.

I contribute to two mental health charities through my wages, and that's it. Call me sceptical but I just won't give money to any collector nowadays as firstly, I don't like "Chugging" as how on earth should you be paid to raise money for a charity, and secondly there's so many instances of money getting lifted from bogus sellers I'd much rather the money goes direct to the charity, I get tax relief, they get gift aid, literally everybody wins.

I observe the silence in memory of my granddad and in respect to a lot of forces people I've met through football both home and abroad. Most of the time this means I've not got a poppy on. Does this make me a bad person?

I buy a poppy each year and I give to certain charities, IoM's hyperbaric chamber, RNLI and a couple of others. We also sponsor a child through World Vision, which ironically, given my regularly stated views, is a Christian run charity. My research showed a high level of funds reach the end projects and minimal admin costs. But importantly (to me) they do not apparently have any 'god' element to what they do.

We do what is comfortable as individuals.

Mrs A bought one last year and another this year. A significant proportion still goes to the charity. This year's cost 7.5 times the suggested donation for a standard poppy, and broke within a fortnight! Oops.

Sadly I think that the poppy has become little more than a fashion appendage.

There's absolutely no justification for them to go on sale before 1 November at the earliest.

And why all the fuss about when and by who the poppy should be worn. It means absolutely nothing to see the poppy being worn 3 or 4 weeks before Remembrance Sunday. Infact it's s bit of an insult.

The RBL has turned into yet another big charity, invoving big salaries, big bonuses, yet the public face of the RBL relies mainly on the goodwill of often elderly volunteers standing out in the cold for far too many days on the bounce.

I can understand they don't want politics in football .


but this I dont think is offending anyone, I'm sure that the opposition ie. Germany , Japan etc have remembrance too?

It's the bloody International FA'a who are making it political and need to be told in no uncertain terms that they can get lost. Small minded beaurocrats, no doubt from small inferior football nations who have been given a smell of power and it's gone to their heads.

It would never happen, but I'd love to see the four nations say "f' you" to FIFA and pull out of the World Cup qualifiers and have a 'Home International' instead. Given the political s*** storm that's heading this way over the next couple of years, giving two fingers to FIFA and getting out of going to Russia may not be a bad move!

The FAs knew what they were doing, and I imagine the fine is a drop in the ocean for them.

In November poppies are pretty much mandatory for anyone in public life in the UK, however they are a political symbol and not universally supported due to the military connotations.
