Wind & Sun

Were we at home tonight?
Hasn't it ever been windy at The Globe before?

Because Dagenham appeared to know how to use the wind, whereas we appeared not to have a clue what to do?

I've said this before on a few occasions, The Globe has a peculiar wind pattern. Often all four corner flags are blowing in different directions. We should know exactly how to play the conditions to our advantage. Yet we still don't.

Learn how to play the conditions AT HOME so that we have an advantage AT HOME.

Likewise, the sun. At certain times of the season, the sun setting shines straight in to the keepers eyes. We should know this and take advantage of it, including long shots when the keeper will struggle to see.

Or like tonight, where one team took long shots with the wind behind them and one team didn't.

correct Keith, after chucking away our lead in the first half I fully expected a struggle in the second, the wind was actually worse in the second and a crap team dominated us, a shambles ,I'm sad to say.

Yes but we don't practice at the Globe, do we? relentless lumps in to the wind tonight were awful and completely embarassing to watch with all the new people that had actually bothered to come and watch.
I really hope I feel better about this sh1te in the morning - only 20 minutes to go

If you do, I'll have a pint of what you've been drinking, 'cause I can't see me feeling better about this shite for a lot longer than that.

In the second half, we SHOULD have been hoofing it in to their area once we got a little over the half-way line (not that we got over the half way line very often). The wind was stopping the ball dead and dropping it straight down. We did that once in the whole half and it was the closest we came to a goal. Dagenham used the wind at corners, shot from distance, knew how to push. All the things that we *should* do at home, but don't.

The whole ground needs picking up/elevating/spinning round "Dorothy's house in the Wizard Of Oz" style to alleviate such (evident) problems.

We might just learn how to play at home then.....

Or we learn to play on our own pitch and use the conditions to our advantage. The wind may have been particularly strong last night, but it wasn't that unusual. We still have no idea what to do with it.

Home advantage? Who'd have thunked?

As well as wind and sun, i hope we are prepared for snow as well..

Friday night to Saturday afternoon forecast:

A swathe of gale force north to northwesterly winds, accompanied by a band of rain and snow, will move south across much of central and southern Britain on Friday night and Saturday. Wind gusts of 50-60 mph are likely,
