What a massive club Pompey really are ..... 953 fans at Carlisle today (800 mile round trip)

I have family down there and also hlived theee for a period of time, my young cousin (15) attends every game home and away and for little money. the club does so much with youngsters to entice them in, i suppose only having southampton to compete with for fans helps

O/T ;)

I've had a bloke in my office all week who's a Pompey fan and he timed his visit to our Preston office to tie in perfectly with ground number 72 of the 92 he has watched Pompey on (Carlisle)

To his credit, he's doing his 73rd FL ground on Tuesday at MFC v Cambridge and is coming back in January for the Pompey game (unless they beat Accy in the FA Cup....!!)

Yes, 1000 fans is great but meanwhile the Shrimps outdo them as we take 10% of our current home following to Barnet.
Portsmouth (with an S) only managed about 6%

Most impressive today for me was Plymouth on over 14,000 - bet their marquee was deflated afterwards and Jamie Vardy being on a par with Van Nistelroy

What was our official following yesterday.

Any number in 3 figures is a decent effort for a club of our size playing in London.

Pompey have always had an amazing away following, the 657 Crew being the most notorious. I was a season ticket holder for a few years, and the 1992/93 was one to remember...

Guy Whittingham was scoring for fun, got 47 that season, ably supported by the mesmerizing Paul Walsh...

I didn't go to many away games, but had the chance to get a seat in a mini-bus to Sunderland for the last away game. A win would have guaranteed promotion to the Premier League.

4,500 travelled to Roker Park. Highlight on the way was passing that idiot John PFC Westwood's van, which had conked-out on the A1...

Anyway, it was a huge day. An away win was nailed on, but somebody had forgotten to tell Sunderland. Amazing crowd, Pompey's 4,500 made a racket, but Sunderland's 17,000 snuffled it.

Pompey didn't turn-up and got hammered 4-1. Had two players sent off, and it was a long drive back down to the south coast.
