Peter Murphy - CAPTAIN!!!

Peter Murphy - CAPTAIN!!!

I must admit that I hadn't really focused on this guys ability as a captain and quite how much we may have been missing him. But .................. I take my hat off to Jimbo for this appointment. Hopefully he can stay fit for the rest of the season and have a positive impact on the team. You can see him directing things on the pitch, taking responsibility for all sorts of stuff - but what really impressed me was watching him on the D&R highlights at the time of the penalty from which Mullin eventually knocked in the rebound. Take a look again and watch how Forrester and Mullin are both keen to take the penalty, and continue watching as Mullin slots home the rebound. Then watch Murphy as Forrester was turning away. Whatever he said to him changed things completely and Forrester and Mullin ended up laughing and coming together as team mates. If Murphy can continue to have this effect on the players around him, then things can only get better and Jimbo's choice as captain was spot on.

That didn't escape me either, and I think that Murphy is going to be our saviour if... IF he stays fit. He really is what we have been missing. He went down with a knock that I thought indicated another knee problem...to see him power on to the end of the game was a massive relief. We don't have another player with his vision in midfield

Murphy and Wildig made an awesome midfield pairing yesterday. Long may it continue. It's amazing how Murphy has made such an immediate impact on his return. The true leader we've sorely missed of late.

Murphy is definitely the player we've been crying out for since last season. He's strong, adds some steel in midfield and just adds that slight cynical-ness/experience (whichever way you look at it) that we've been needing.

He was directing play and that's something we haven't seen this season.

A great choice by Jim to make him captain.

And a word in praise for Adam Dugdale. He was in the team earlier in the season when we had a great run of results and he certainly stood up to be counted on Tuesday.
