Saturdays game - postpone it now?

It's now Thursday afternoon - more flood warnings for Lancaster, Carnforth, Cumbria etc etc.
Given that I was going to attend on Saturday, but frankly the fact that I might get stranded there or worse not actually get there within a reasonable timeframe from Manchester, surely many others locally are in the same boat (they could use that boat to get there, arf arf), perhaps the club might save everyone a lot of bother by cancelling the game to stop Exeter fans being caught up in it? Plus I'd say the crowd will be tiny if its on?
The longer we leave it, the more problems it will cause cancelling it..........

The only valid reason for it being postponed (other than the pitch being waterlogged) is if the electricity supply on Saturday afternoon could not be guaranteed , then it would be a H & S issue as well as the loss of floodlighting during the game.

Im sure the local electrickery people are absolutely delighted by the concept of having a massive floodlit pitch when they're busy trying to get full power to the entire district.
No doubt we will do our usual trick of leaving it to the 11th hour, or worse still, letting the game start, the lights fail, and we abandon it after about 50 minutes thus pissing just about everyone off.

goneshrimping makes a valid point especially when the Electricity Supply company made an appeal for everybody in the area to be economical with its power consumption until the problems are rectified.
Carlisle FC players have shown a willingness to lend a hand to their town's community maybe our club should show a spirit of cooperation in doing its bit towards saving the areas power supply.
An earlier Kick Off would be a logical solution.....

That would put the organiser of the pre match Shrimps Christmas lunch into turmoil
If the BBC news forecast is correct, there is another weather warning for Cumbria on Saturday afternoon

Call it off now and all games till the new year..it's obvious we don't know how to play in these windy and wet conditions so maybe it could be rearranged for February-March sometimes and work in our favour !

I've already said to Mrs A that given the flood risk to our house (we came close to going under on Saturday), it would be adviseable to miss the game on Saturday as a) we might not get home, and b) we wouldn't then be able to take the mitigation measures we need to if it becomes apparent that flooding is a possibility.

The Bay says North Lancs and Cumbria for a yellow warning from 12pm to midnight - won't be as bad as Desmond

Maybe not, but one of the critical factors for us is water table, as an adjacent well floods out onto the road. The water table hasn't exactly had much chance to fall since Sunday.

Most, if not all, of us should be back on the main supply by Saturday, and the rain is only due from around noon, so I don't see what the problem is.

Latest weather forecast is for the rain to last all morning then dry for the rest of the weekend, so as long as the pitch will stand up to that morning spell, it's looking better from a fans' point of view. So come on down and support your local club!

Alright, I'll pop down to Alty then in the Trophy as I don't trust the Morecambe game to be on, and there's no way I'm wading through all the shite on the roads to get there!

Why postpone a game when we don't need to. So play on a Tuesday night when we get an either terrible turnout. Does not make business sense.

Look out for our Chairman Peter McG who if not at The Globe will possibly be at Alty.
Spoke in length to Peter prior to the Tuesday game v Daggers and he said that he sometimes pops down to watch Alty when unable to get to The Globe for a number of reasons.

Lives round the corner from the ground in the very very posh bit. Used to bump into him a lot in cheaply when umbro were there. Strange situation when he'd see a morecambe scarf and a flag in the back of the car!
