Back to form last few games; I wonder if we can hang on to him?

Think he'll be here next season, has his good games Jamie but goes missing too much against the more physical sides n that's what's stopping him from playing a higher level I think that he's not aggressive enough !

Absolutely ! Watched quite abit of championship football the last couple of years and it's as tough as anything. It's part of the modern day game outside the top flight you need to be able to cope with the dirty work if you wana stay in football full time these days

When he is at his best I would go so far as to say that Jamie Devitt would probably be in my all time best Shrimps eleven, that's how skilful this guy is IMHO

The idea that he's too lightweight to play at a higher level is nonsense. Carl Baker has carved out a decent career at Championship level and he was a similar sort of play to Devitt when he was here.

I think Baker was the most skillful player I ever saw in a Morecambe shirt.

I'd say Baker was more skillful but Devitt has a ridiculous eye for a pass, the assists stats tell the story in that department. I think Thompson had more assists than Baker in his season here?

The point being they are a similar sort of build, ie, both look like they could be blown over by a slight breeze!

We were always going to be up against this, since Sean Millers heroics in October. Having put his career back on track here, I would have at least hoped that we might have made some sort of positive move or at least put a positive spin on it. .:(

From this we must assume that we have tried to extend their contracts now but failed. Maybe we really need to get into the play offs this year or the chance may not come again. Players like these are not plentiful out there bearing in mind what we can afford to pay them. Get into the play offs, get promoted and we just might be able to give them an offer that they might accept.

I think that Miller owes us after he was on the scrapheap.
Sign a 1 year extension with a release clause for 100 grand

He doesn't owe us anything in my opinion......he does however owe his family to do the best he can for them. If that means he goes elsewhere for nowt.....well we'll just have to live with it.

Harsh but reality... :!: :!: :!: after all 'it is what it is....' as the manager reminds us.... :!: :!: :!:
