TIME TO STOP TALKING.....

After reading comments from the 'Declining Gates' post, I hope people don't mind that I have started a new subject regarding a cover behind the home stand. From my own experiences, I stood on the terraces in our first season at the Globe and to be honest, I GOT SICK AND TIRED OF GETTING WET AND BLOWN ABOUT IN THE WIND every time I went for something to eat and drink, so much so that I moved to the seats where I remain to this day. I know people who relocated like myself, or stopped coming altogether, often telling me that one of the reasons was a lack of cover behind the stand. I know several fans who use to be regulars and who no longer come to matches, the club cannot expect fans to turn out game after game and offer poor facilities. I really do think it is time the club listened to it's supporters. Maybe, through the supporters club, we could approach MFC officials and say enough is enough, let us build our own cover and even though I no longer use the terraces I would happily make a donation to 'raise a roof' fund. I have not posted for quite some time, but do feel strongly about this, we cannot keep losing supporters from the home end, less supporters on the terraces equals less atmosphere for the rest of the ground. I'm going to e-mail the club with my views, if everybody else does the same then perhaps the club might take note. Thanks for taking time to read this, but it really is time to stop talking and take some action.

Good post. Surely someone in the club, with the agreement of the board, could do some drawings of what's proposed and cost it out. We could then start a Raise the Roof campaign and even look for funds from sporting bodies and supporters.

I suggest you tackle Mark Dixon about this matter because at the last two AGMs of the Shareholders I have asked the question about this matter and have been told on both occasions that plans have been drawn up and costings costed. After that it all went very quiet other than for him to suggest that the club were looking at revenue streams / sponsorship to pay for the structure.
At the time and I presume now, the structure had to meet certain regulations which made the total cost probably uneconomic bearing in mind its limited use over a season and therefore the financial return being negligible.
However I find it somewhat annoying that this subject constantly raises its head but to date not a single word of explanation as to what the position is has been put to the fans by the powers that be.
Maybe if fans made their feelings known more vocally then an up to date clarification of the current state of play would be forthcoming.....
It's the lack of information to the fans about such matters than is of constant concern; typified not only by the concern regarding the rear of the Omega Stand but other areas ( ie ground sponsorship) that would bring in much needed revenue that we hear time after time is hindering the management in their efforts to improve the squad.

a firm like this is who we should be dealing with, they have some good ideas and designs and offer free surveys ->
http://canopiesuk.co.uk/education/free upload imagejust a inexpensive undercover canopy like you get outside bars and play areas at schools and universities would be suffice.
pretty sure you would get something of a decent size(bigger than the above) behind the goal if you chucked £20.000 on the table.

This is a good post, touched on in the declining gates post, all the former paddock fans have vanished as no provision was considered for them when the club'' consulted'' with the fans to find out what they wanted, our multimillionaire owner will probably be very happy to consider the kind offer off the fans to enhance his business out of their own pockets, he should have told us, ''if you want it, you pay for it'' 3 years ago Neil, instead of stating it was ''in the pipeline''.

This is the final year of the 3 year plan to be self sustainable, so we might be surprised.
The said pipeline must be somewhere near the Great Wall

I know previous chairs of FCoM (supporters club), in particular Pat Stoyles, have approached MFC on a few occasions about improving facilities behind the goal for fans, at which point they have been presented with blueprint plans for a permanent structure. But this has been going on for three seasons now and their has been no movement. Perhaps its time that as supporters, and in that I include the supporters club, we arrange a meeting with club representatives to outline our wish to raise funds towards the building of temporary facilities which can be removed when the more permanent structure gets built (which will be never).
Paul Carter (red Mohawk) is the new supporters club chair, This should be on the agenda for the next FCoM meeting. To achieve anything noteworthy as a support group we will need to utilise skills and expertise within our support base, and to have such people involved with the FCoM committee. For example, I know in the past when FCoM were looking to present a temporary structure idea to the club, they sourced free building materials from a fan that had a business involved in the building trade. But, as previously mentioned that plan and the free stuff was shunned because the building of the permanent facility was imminent.

I emailed the Club earlier highlighting the Shrimpsvoices discussions for a roof of some sorts at the back of the Omega as well as possibly brightening the back wall up with some red and white paint. Got a response within a couple of hours and this will now be on the agenda for the next board meeting.
Hopefully with everyone pulling together we can get this sorted before another winter of outdoor drinking.

If FCOM are going to push for this, I would suggest a pre meeting, meeting, to get your info and possible resources documented, so you have a tangible proposal forthe club to consider, a local builder may consider cheap rates in return for a free advert in the stadium, or maybe a temporary loan of a marquee as a stop gap, whatever is put up needs one or two tv's, and it wants sorting asap whilst we still have demand for it!

You need to keep up......Somebody close to the club started the rumour a couple of months ago saying to anyone who cared to listen, that spurs had a scout watching Barky, it was discussed on here after making the national press, hilarious, 2 million my arse was my comment at the time!

I remember being sat in the main stand at Christie Park as a child wishing that somebody would put some windows in the sides of the stand because it was bloody freezing. Plas-Tech eventually did and had their logo splashed all over them! Would they not be willing to do something similar at the back of the Omega now? Looking at these posts by supporters and all the good ideas put forward, Its quite easy to see where the club could save £60,000 a year!

A lad from work came last Saturday for the first time and said he had to route through the snow covered forks just to find a fork for his pie. Appalling.
Embarassing and amateur. Put them under cover!!

Maybe someone in the stand should video all the problems, then put it on here just to show how embarassing it is being run.

The board should let the supporters take on this project as they've proven themselves incapable of delivering what has consistently been raised as vital to the supporter experience and the relationship between them.
If the supporters then deliver the project they should also get a seat on the board as representation if the continue to deliver such projects. Directors like Gary Taylor got on the board by paying £15,000 a year. The fans and members of FCOM pay way more.

hear hear, our board members seem to listen to nobody and give little away, probably because they have no say in anything anyhow, most clubs engage well with their fans nlo around here though, it seems to be a lancashire coast ''thing'' to run your footy team like its north korea.

So.... this is on their agenda for the next meeting
When is this meeting ?
Actions speak louder than words, us fans need to do something more than just ask the question and wait for an answer.
FCoM have been talking about the facilities all around the ground and especially within the omega area, FCoM know it needs improving, FCoM have approached the club on a couple if not several occasions.
I know for sure that FCoM want the club to provide some sort of cover at the rear of the omega.
Hopefully FCoM will pop on here and say their piece on this.
the sponsor of the last home game was UK roofing, the owner / director was approached by MFC fans and he was asked for a quote, unfortunately it is not the kind of roofing they undertake.

FCOM appear to the only ''voice of the fans'' that get an annual audience with the club, do they ask the questions? probably, but they seem to come away with empty promises, is this the case FCOM?, or has the M in FCOM become Mcguigan?
