Don't worry it will be going back to its green livery with it's name plate once it gets the appropriate license.
Anyway Mark, you'll remember it in it's war time black livery.

Mrs A's dad would, and what's more, I believe he's actually driven the thing, and properly - he used to be a driver for too many years to say.

I had my dinner break in Carnforth today and noticed that some train was causing a bit of a stir on the platforms of the station. I had a wander over and quizzed a bloke making his way over to the station armed with lots of Cameras and recording equipment. He told me that this train is the worst train on the mainlines and has almost bankrupted everybody that has owned it. I rushed home and tried to wash the geekiness from my skin.

It's not a train, it's a steam engine

AKA "Trigger's broom" or the "Flying Moneypit". Popular with the media and public because it's often the only one people have heard about. But a lot of enthusiasts aren't impressed because it's cost more to restore than to build a completely new one from scratch (Tornado) and it's got virtually no original parts left on it - the argument is that there are other more historically important engines languishing in museums and engine sheds that could have been brought back to working order for a fraction of the cost.

I think it was there from 1978 (poss earlier) and was still there in 1986. Went to Vickers (now BAE) for a boiler refit in '79-'80.

It is travelling to Carlisle via Shap in the morning then back down the Settle line in the afternoon. Once again the Westmorland Gazette is less than thorough in its reporting.
