What are peoples opinion on our fans having shares? Is it worthwhile us buying up shares or would that prevent investment?
Who on here has shares and what comes with being a shareholder? Is it a worthwhile thing to do at this moment in time? Or doesn't it really matter, would it just be a token effort

If you were to buy 50,000 shares at a pound each, you would be injecting 50 k into the clubs funds, that would be absorbed by their losses, your shares would mean you would own 2% of a football club, thereforeif it ever made an annual profit which is unlikely, you would possibly get 2% of that profit if the shareholders decided to award tnemselves a dividend, 55% of the shares in the club are owned by the chairman, so any decisions in the running of tne club are ultimately his decisions, hope that helps you.

You certainly don't buy shares in our club if you are expecting to make money out of it. I bought mine way back in the 90s when the club was in dire straits as a way of helping it with its financial problems of the day as did a number of others.

potentialy
say you bought shares, and legally owned 5%, if the club went bankrupt you could end up with people chasing you for any money owed and end up with CCJs and get blacklisted for future loans, and have any property you have taken off you to pay the debt off.

if i said we were a limited company and then came out with that statement, then ok
but potentially if you have your name on a busness you can be held accountable, speaking from experience.

Same here Neil. I bought three-figures worth (and I don't mean from £1.00 to £9.99) too back in 1991.
It's got me an invite to the AGM every year and the chance to view that years club accounts.

I suspect you mean £100 Martin, as its publically available information that you have 100 ordinary shares
47 more than CC by the way.

Wow CC makes out like he saved the club and he basically bought a shirt and scarf.

To be fair, this was the 1980's, you could have bought the whole first team squad for £250!

There were rumours that in the 80's they used to empty the fruit machines on a Saturday night to pay the players in coins !

I bought my shares in the early 80's and yes it was 51 costing me £51 not a lot of money today, but in the 80's it was a fair bit. Wonder what the value of £51 then is now...

£195.68 if you bought in 1981
£174.87 if you bought in 1982
£161.02 if you bought in 1983
£153.94 if you bought in 1984
I'm sure you must have had more than that back in dividends from such a profitable venture?
How do you make a million pounds out of owning a football club?Start with eight million pounds!

As I posted in another thread in January:
Keith wrote:Many years ago, you had to become a shareholder to join '
The World Cup Bar' at Christie Park. I have a vague recollection of it being a £1 share, but that may not be correct. It is possibly tied in with that? The numbers would be about right, was my name there??? That £1 share is probably worth £0.05 now!
Hence pages & pages of shareholders with just one share each.
