Youth Set Up

Postby LancsShrimp » Sat Mar 12, 2016 10:28 pm

Development Centre doesn't appear to be doing its job. In the last 3 years they have only taken on one lad, Dawson, as a scholar. Seems they just take lads who have been released from Academy's.

Fair enough but they tell parents they take on st least five lads a year. This us not the case, the college take on players to play in the college team "this way we can keep an eye on you" .

Pretty poor for lads who have been offered other things but have stayed loyal to the club thinking they had a chance. Have spoken to loads of parents and we've decided we won't continue to fund this farce. My lad is early teens and won't be going back.

The above post can be summed up as follows:

Disgruntled parents not happy that their offspring aren't considered good enough.

I have heard a few parents who have had their kids hand picked say things like this though. I think you have to stump up £30 a month per child and there is very little game time. Worringly, a few have taken their kids to Lancaster City instead.

Wonder what the percentage of youth players turning into multi million pound earning Premier players is?

Isn't there two academy structures/systems? One thats purely based on ability and another where parents have to pay for their children to attend?

Not at all, as I said my lad isn't in that age group so it hasn't affected him yet.

As mentioned quite a few have moved their kids to NLDDC which was set up by Lancaster City.

And yes it's £30 a month.
