First time I have heard negativity regarding off the pitch/training/budget goings on.
This "Club for Sale" stance is not doing anyone any good

I am usually behind the manager all the way but this is whiney drivel, he is being paid to ''get on with it'', not whinge and blame everything on bad luck, All our sendings off have been deserved, they are his team, so therefore its his failure to instill discipline thats at fault, change that record ,its boring.

I don't see Jim as a Kenneth Williams shouting "Infamy Infamy , they've all got it infamy"!

Blames everything but the one thing that is to blame....... Himself!!!
On saturday he blamed the traffic jam, that has to be a classic for a home team!

I have stopped reading and listening to everything Jim says. Life is hard enough without listening to his constant whining week in week out. He wants the plaudits for the wins
but blames everything else for the more common defeats. Where has the badge thumping, big, dominating centre half who dragged this club along with him gone?

In the Bay radio interview straight after Friday's loss, Jim sounded terrible. First words, "I'm not making excuses" and then immediately went on to blame everything else, i.e. mentioned decisions against us, mentioned injuries, mentioned traffic all in a low droney voice. He sounded absolutely deflated - he's bad enough when things are good, but he made a very poor impression to anyone listening. Even when we win, he never sounds upbeat and enthusiastic. I really hope he's more positive and upbeat around the players.

The tone 'whining tone' was established in the first game when Ellison's great goal was disallowed, swiftly followed by his Mesiah getting crocked on 7 minutes.
Well it's too bloody late now, and his routine gut churning bile belittles the massive tub thumping hero we all adored when he lifted the trophy at Wembley
I'm gutted for Jim that the end is becoming a shabby character assassination, but he can't truly expect anything else with such depressing interviews. He must shoulder ALL the blame because he is the boss. Dynamic organisations don't rely on good luck and chance, the dynamism percolates down from the top and that's all there is to it.
Blame it all on Lady Luck if you want to hide from the truth, reality is our position in the League.
Thanks for putting your heart and soul into the club, but it really is time to graciously resign at the end of the season and leave with your reputation still intact for those of us who loved your courageous never-say-die approach as the rock we built our promotion push around
You will never be forgotten

Save your breath cagey , as said in other topic there will be no change until the club is sold and then only if there is ambition .

Good post and absolutely spot on. As you say, the great shame is that the lion hearted player has changed since becoming manager. Perhaps, as is often the case, the move to management was one step too far. It was always going to be a hard task and I'm sure he's put in some really hard work but if you can't positively motivate the troops you'll never win the battle. Motivation is a huge part of management.
I fear the worst for next year as I can't see anyone thinking the club is a good buy. Sincerely hope I'm wrong,

Jim could have made a brilliant assistant manager with prime role of motivation, coaching, etc. looking after the players side of things, alongside a manager more suited to the decision making, admin, tactical roles. I agree, to move from playing straight into a manager position does look to have been a step too high.

I said when Jim was first appointed and in favour of him, he needed to get a decent right hand man, somebody who's older, a deep thinker who takes a back seat over looking things while Jim shouts orders as he did as a capatain.
But instead......

Well, he's been a manager for almost five years now... And in each of the seasons he's been manager, our goal has always been to finish third from bottom or higher. He's achieved that.
I find it incredibly frustrating that Jim's style appears to be to grind out 1-0 wins, something we repeatedly fail to do. I think that he has the players at his disposal to play entertaining football and still more than achieve the goal set at the start of the season. I don't think it is a lack of experience, drive or desire. But I am increasingly worried that the problem is, Jim's desire to defend rather than score. Last season, we started well, conceded too many, went defensive, played crap, then belatedly began attacking again until the end of the season. This season has been an exact copy, without the penny-dropping moment, changing back to playing decent football.

Sadly it sounds like fans have finally lost patience with Jim.
Great guy, top player, true Morecambe legend but his current negativity in interviews must be having an effect on the team. It will certainly be putting off fans returning to the Globe. He complains of fans' deserting the club but doesn't understand his significant role in why this is happening.
Personally I don't think Jim is a bad manager, however he has been immersed in managing MFC for five years and it seems the pressure to get it right is taking its toll. With a bit of a break from the game I could see him having some success at a similar sized club to ours in the future.
Even with the uncertainty of the club being up for sale and a tight budget I think a change might be best for everyone. Perhaps Drummy should be given a go next season?

What is for certain, and something we must never forget, is how bloody good a player and captain he was...

If we get new owners I would expect somebody with experience coming in. I don't think Stewart would do any better than Jim is already doing to be honest. The results in the reserves show he still is learning, so don't think it is the right time for Stewart to take over from Jim just yet. Whatever happens over the summer with the players and management team, Jim will always be a legend.

I think/hope that if a new owner came in, they would still give Jim a chance to see what he could do with an increased budget. So one way or another, I hope Jim starts next season in charge. But I really hope he also takes on board that the tactics & style of play genuinely are driving people away. Let's get this season finished and then get it going positively in the new season.

We always have positivity in the new season, get some decent deals and signings, look good in pre season and zoom up to the top 7 if not higher till October, then turn to sh!te, give or take an odd decent performance here and there through till New Year, then struggle again, stumbling along..
It could be a lot worse like York/Dagenham but we clearly have the ability, but can't seem to nurture it.
Now we are for sale , we need new people pretty dam quick or this will simply continue. Sammy Mc. gave up at this point.
To me the whole thing needs a kick up the ass!

I think every Morecambe fan wants Jim to succeed and give us a team that plays good football and is competitive.
Jim has had 5 seasons and each season after the first one has felt like "Groundhog Day". A great start in August/September followed by a slump and then a partial recovery. Who will ever forget last season when we were going great guns and then went to Mansfield and defended in the hope of a 0-0 draw only to lose to a late goal.
I think it is likely that a new owner will give Jim a chance and lets hope that he realises the mistakes of the past.

I do keep trying to forget, but it is one of the lowest points as a football fan.
Although, being beaten 1-0 away at Bristol Rovers was real Groundhog Day, exactly the same as Mansfield, set up to defend a 0-0 against a team who were close to being relegated, only to lose to the only shot/header on target in the entire game, from either side.

It all depends who comes into the club & what vision he has for the club. I hope Jim is given a chance but losing like we have throughout the season will not help his prospects. Most investors want a return on their money, and maybe league one. We cannot guarantee that whoever invests retains all the current staff in their positions. Whether it means job role changes or new faces. I want to see us like Burton, Rochdale, etc. not languishing in league two on low attendances.
