Pools fan here. With it being one of our closest games this year you can almost class this as a local derby for us with the amount of travelling we have had to do. So we should be bringing a pretty big away following this year apparently already 4 coaches going from up here and a lot of interest in the match, especially with how we are doing now.

Hi there, firstly can you please spell Morecambe correctly
This game has been on the agenda a while, in the meantime we have slumped and you are recovering somewhat and you have just gone above us!
Hope you bring loads and we all have a good day. We do look at you as a local game compared to some of the trips we both have to do.

Haha many apologies just noticed myself. The old spell check doesn't seem to be up to much on this phone. I reckon we may bring around a 1000 maybe more as the club are running free travel to all away games until the end of the year. Its one of the games a lot of our fans look forward too this one so should be a good day.

Hopefully we won't need free travel to Exeter! Thank goodness for York and Dagenham that's all I can say

Shame York are going out I think we would all prefer Stevenage.

Yes , another Northern team in York going out of League 2 but at least it looks like a few Northern and North Midlands teams are coming down from League 1.
Stevenage would not be missed in any way

After last years utter farce at our ground when Hartlepool brought such big numbers of away fans and we closed the away standing area and put them all in the seats, I hope common sense prevails this time and we open up the standing terrace for them.

Given that half of them were bladdered, and loads of police had to be called as they were hitting stewards in the main stand, and getting on the pitch behind the goals, urinating in public etc. its a shame we need their money.

That's a shame if those things happened. I cant argue we have our fair share of numpties who go to certain games but the majority of pools fans are some of the best in the country. We should bring double what we brought last year.

Just a quick update on Saturdays end of season knock about around 400 tickets sold so far with tickets available on the day. Opening behind the goal as well this year so should help improve the atmosphere a little.

Good to hear that the away end is being opened. It always improves the atmosphere.

This time last week we were all depressed. We actually won a game on Saturday and it was at home!
Having thought you would beat us, we are now high in optimism for this one
Bottom team Dagenham tomorrow night first, so we will be above you in the League again before Kick Off

Yes saw you won 4-2 against Barnet. Not sure why everyone was worried? Dont be so sure my friend of being above us. We play the mighty sheep shaggers tommorow too. Though we will certainly need to play better than Saturday as we struggled badly second half to beat ten men. Wouldn't surprise me if hignett our manager didn't start experimenting a little now.

Our resident doom-monger kept everyone from relaxing!
I think although it would have taken something extraordinary for us to go down, stranger things have happened. The longer we went on without getting points, the more anxious everyone has become, probably including the players. So winning on Saturday was a relief and a massive weight lifted. Hopefully we will now go and play with that freedom for the rest of the season.

Do Billingham still have two teams? One of our most enjoyable FA Cup games was against Billingham Town. We were probably still Northern Premier League, perhaps just a Conference side. Either way, it was a massive game for Town. Radio Newcastle sent an outside broadcast car, which the reporter sat in to relay the game. One of our lads had a transistor radio (how quaint!) and tuned in. We listened to the most biased commentaries ever (Freez could have learned a thing or two!) so we all went and stood around the car, chanting & singing! The reporter's commentary suddenly became very favourable towards us!
As I recall, the players got changed in the pub (or a Portacabin in the pub's garden)?

Yes they do. Never ever knew you had played against them. Billingham town play just over the road from Billingham synthonia. Both clubs have fallen on hard times and are now in division 2 of the northern league. The Billingham derby at Xmas was watched by a massive 312 fans.

I remember when Morecambe were in the Northern Premier League , I went to see us play Billingham Synthonia in either the FA Cup or the FA Trophy. We won 5-0 I think. The ground had a huge concrete stand from memory.

We played Town in the Trophy and the FA Cup in the same season away. Billingham had Kenny Lowe playing for them too!!
We won both games as I recall.
Next season we got Synthonia away, massive stand down the side, with standing either side of seats, not unlike the old main stand at Crusty Pie. We won that one too!!
We were in the NPL at the time, mid 80's, Joe Woj in charge for us I think.
Happy days

I presume that's the Kenny lowe that played for us. His dad still lives in billingham and Kenny is now in Australia.

Yes still exactly the same ground has not altered for years. Shame on me but I've hardly ever been to see synners saw them lose unfortunately in a big fa vase game few years ago. Probobly last time they got a big gate. Billingham town is where our reserves play and they get more from one friendly game against us than they do all season in the northern league.
