Captain FFS!!!!!
DOGSHIT!!!!!!!!!
Absolute SHITE as as defender, stealing a living as a footballer. Their no 7 (Thomas?) must have thought it was Christmas.
Has to go.

he's having a bad season compared to good previous one's
and not the only one, everyone's defending as been poor this season.
so worth another season.

We're desperately in need of a real captain at the back. Is Murphy the answer?

And we have a ex-defender as manager

I'd be quite happy to not see Beeley in a shirt again after today. Exceptionally poor in a very poor team but I wouldn't be offering new deals to any of the defenders.
That said, the problem is defending as an entire team. There is no closing down AT ALL giving teams so much time on the ball to pick out their passes. What is the point playing Kenyon and Goodall in the role they are in when they don't get stuck in? Kenyon has mastered the art of pointing for someone else to do the job while just standing off players all the time (bar the occasionally clumsy tackle).
Bloody awful.

It's been a theme for Morecambe for years... We have, on paper, decent individual defenders. And yet we find that we cannot defend very well as a unit and as a team. We have a defender as a manager and we get told that we train hard and practice defending set plays and defensive positioning etc... so what's going wrong?
I don't have the answer but too many of our defenders have had poor seasons. There was a time when I'd say that Beeley was our best player. This season he's been a shadow of his former self. Same for Ryan Edwards and Dugdale I simply don't rate. The only player to have done well is the young loanee Luke Conlon. Young AJ and Doyle need more game time as they've largely stepped up to the plate when they've had a chance. Especially AJ - his performance was probably the only positive from today.

We had a decent defence last season (conceded 52 in 46 matches).
Then Jim released Hughes and whatever people think about him he did organise the back 4/5.
Now a member of Coleman's promotion chasing team at Accrington.

Where is "Turning circle and turning speed of an oil tanker" Dugdale ??
Is he injured ?? I genuinely don't know.

It was sad to see young Conlan get the hook when it was Beeley who was the one who needed subbing. I suppose it is easier to drag off a young lad on loan rather than your Captain.

I was (very) surprised at Conlon's subbing actually.
He was doing MORE than ok in my opinion.

He's been a crap captain as well as a crap defender. Barely makes an effort to organise and direct the others. Oh and can't mark to save his life.

Shocking substitution. I can only assume Conlan picked up an injury. Surely McGowan will start next week, get Doyle in as well.

I'd be looking to give Charlie Bailey his chance in the midfield too.
I've seen him play for Kendal Town a lot during his loan spells there this season and he literally ran the show for them.
He had a good game too for the Reserves this week (despite us getting hammered)

I think we have some players/defenders who are good tacklers, but have no idea how to defend (hope that doesn't sound too daft), they are tactically unaware......the number of goals they ship from free kicks, corners is far too high, their no 7 had a field day today, made Paz and Beeley look like statues, thank goodness he was subbed as against 10 men I hate to think what trouble he would have caused, also the distribution from defence is a cause for concern...I cant believe Jim coaches the defence..

Beeley was dreadful today. Got skinned six times in the first half including twice for their opening goals. Schoolboy stuff as well as he dived in and they just went the other way.
He was probably the worst but Moly and Barky were both really poor too. Get the story about Devitt going but I pay to watch our best team and he should be played. Prat about with your sides in pre-season not when the fans are paying good money.

Plenty were really poor, in fact you would struggle to find one who wasn't.Stockton probably the best of a bad bunch when he came on.

Absolutely. Stockton pretty much the only one who looked capable at this level. Would've given him motm and certainly not Barkhuizen. Beeley truly awful today... joke of a captain. Roche did himself no favours either, replicating the sending off he got at Orient. I'd have expected him to know better. We were a laughing stock today and it questions my support... not helped by the attitude of a certain "manager" after the game either.
