young fans showing the way

This forum features posts slating off the young fans from time to time. 'they aren't as witty as we were in the old days' or 'they sing abusive songs' etc etc. On saturday I was stood below them. In response to the Hartlepool 'you're shit and you know we are' they sang 'we're shit...'. Then they sang 'you're nothing special we lose every week'. They sang all the way through a dreadful performance and made a lot of noise. I would have joined them if I was any younger than the 61 I am! The bit that particularly struck me was a lone voice shouting 'bentley out'. There were a number of boos to this shout and then they struck up with 'jimbo, you'll never...' They supported the team throughout.

It struck me that this is how to support the team. Following some of the threads on here from whinging old scrotes it felt good to hear proper supporters giving their all. Maybe us old gits can learn from them.

To be fair, the slagging that SOME younger fans have received is almost exclusively because they were aggressive/fighting/wanting to fight or setting off flares. They've rarely had any negative comments regarding their actual support for the club, in fact, quite the opposite. A search of the forum will return many posts hoping that the 'best' of the young lads can be developed and they'd develop in to the next generation of fans, a generation us old hits can be proud of.

More of the same please! Especially, self depreciating, humorous singing... we like that! :D :D :D

The troublemakers seem to have been kicked out TBH.
