O/T Walking football monday nights

Last summer i decided to try walking football. The nearest place to put it on is at Ingol and organised by PNE. Sessions every friday morning. Since trying it i have been hooked and would like to play twice a week if i can.
An attempt has been made to set up a session on a monday night at the Globe. I have been down 4 times in the last 2 months. 2 occasions one other person turned up and 2 occasions just me.
With the lighter and warmer evenings this is the time to try and get something going. we just need 7 plus the coach who is there already to at least have 4 a side.
the sessions at preston started a year ago and now up to 20 people turn up with an age range of 55 to 78. we also have 3 ladies in their mid 60s who play.
its a really good work out and a great opportunity for anyone over 50 to play football again.
so anyone interested??
here is a link with telephone number at the club if you want to enquire about monday night

Ah, I didn't click the link. Not for me anyway (a long way to come and walking isn't my strong point!) but for general info.

Can our first teamers do this, or is it too strenuous?

Way too quick. But it might throw up some local home-grown footballing talent, and this could give some competition for places for the first teamers.

just called the globe and a session definitely on tonight.just need some players to turn up
7.30pm and £3.
i will go down and if we could get 6 others plus community coach we could have a training session and a game.
On speaking to the office this afternoon they are really keen to get this going and put a team together for competitions.
At present there are about 8 locations in north and easts lancs that have regular sessions and the number is growing due to the popularity of this sport.
So lets hope this gets off the ground tonight

I started going when they stated it, enjoyed it, but as you said it died a death due to the cold wet nights. Can't make tonight, But will try and get down in future. Hope it catches on.

yes outsider i think the cold wet winter nights will obviously put people off. at preston we play on 3g but under cover. alot of other locations are the same.
its a nice evening so what better time for people to try it.
hope to see you soon

i turned up at 7.15 in anticipation of a few faces. stayed until 7.35 but no buggar turned up! shame as such a nice evening to play. next monday is a bank holiday so i will post again for the following monday.
the community officer i spoke to thought that maybe monday night is not a good time. quite a few centres play in the mornings as the majority of people playing are retired or working part time. also if enough people turn up on a regular basis then they can hire an indoor pitch for the winter months(or summer months if people prefer)
