Next season expectations

Wonder if the crowds mood will change. Probably a young, cobbled together squad not fancied. Staying in the league will be a success.

Also this season, if we'd started crap then escaped relegation with a good run would people be so gloomy?

Impossible question to answer until we know if the club has changed ownership hands and if it does it then depends on what the new owner(s) invest in the team.

New owners can't just come in and throw money at the team though can they. The secret will be to get the crowds coming flocking back, build the offices and other off the field income streams going, rename the ground and get the Brill, Lager and Bog on its feet..
They can then spend on the team.

Any new owner should however throw us a couple of fish straight away, like Mahrez and Vardy on loan to give us a sweetener

Okay assume no big investment and a side made of them still on contract and whatever kids and castoffs we can get. More asking if it were that expectation that has caused so much criticism. If we don't have the hope of finishing high up might it be more enjoyable just making the best of it.

You might be able to answer this. PMG 's programme notes on Saturday mentioned the "development of the office block , hotel and dormitory". That's the first mention I have seen to a dormitory , where will that be and who is it for ?

It is a strange term to use as it's more used for "in house" accommodation rather than suggesting a hotel or room rental. I heard it a couple of weeks or so ago. My first thought was whether it was some accommodation for our players and staff to use given that Jim has mentioned traffic problems a few times. May not be such a bad idea. Somewhere for a few people to stay over either mid-week for training or say Friday night, not only so they're guaranteed to be here on time, but also potentially massive savings in travel/hotel costs seeing as so many have quite a long commute from Merseyside. It may actually be useful in negotiations to be able to offer on-site rooming rather than a time-consuming and costly commute. Of course, I may be completely wide of the mark, but it just made sense to me as an option. Wasn't it Wildig who was staying in local hotels when he first came as his commute was too long to do each day?

I think it was mentioned that Wildig was living in Hereford when he first signed??

Good idea for this accommodation KenH.

I can remember the days when the club actually owned a number of houses in the area that players rented.

Talk about 'The Good Old Days'..... :) :) :)

However the idea ( :?: ) of some form of on site lodgings makes a lot of sense, especially if it means that we could attract players from further than Merseyside.

It's for the spectators to use after watching the first 15 minutes of the match

Great! How are we paying for this.

Regarding expectations, 22nd will do nicely whilst we go through this ownership jiggery pokery. Anything above that a bonus, hopefully we unearth some gems in the kids that no doubt will get a substantial run out.

Well if you read PMG's programme notes he explains about new owners will have to have the means to develop the office block etc etc

"It is important to me personally that a new owner will invest both on the field of play and in the development of the office block, hotel and dormitory. This investment will therefore secure the financial viability of the Club"

Think you have an answer and that is none of us really know, but as it is 'dormitory' that to me would mean in house rather than selling bedrooms.
My first thought was it would be somewhere for our defenders to go when the ball goes out of play

Sticking to the question as to what are my expectations for next season, I'm going to expect relegation, then anything more's a bonus.

They could utilise the hospitality boxes quite easily that would save a few bob and maybe give the players chance to feel a bit more ''at home''

Yes but they could be a bit smelly after some of our players have dossed down in them

I don't think that the expectations were unrealistic in the first place. The style of football definitely 'changed' and went downhill rapidly when the focus was on defending (HA!)

In theory, you are probably right, if we'd been bottom at Christmas, then went on a fantastic run until the end of the season, we'd probably be less suicidal at the moment, because we'd all be expecting us to start next season the way we ended. However, the despondency is probably for the same reason, we're expecting us to start next season in the way we ended this one :?

Going back to the expectation thread I have to admit my hopes are high but expectations are low. My head tells me we could easily get relegated (or worse) this next season unless we get a new owner......and my expectations for that are not high

Heard today that the players in negotiations over new deals basically depends on the club getting taking over. They expect a new owner in place by the end of the month but if not it's guna be virtually impossible to keep the likes of devitt Miller Fleming and Edwards with there wages having to be almost cut in half for them to re-sign as that's the best the club can offer at this moment. Worrying times let's hope we can get a new owner ASAP or with us only being able to offer wages like this then surely there's only one place we'll be this time next year :(

Perhaps but I can believe it. At present we are not in a nice place.
