O/T Wages and incentives

Just been listening to Keith Curle the Carlisle manager about his summer dealings in bringing new players to his club.

The matter of salaries was discussed in length and he admitted that he would not be in a position to offer potential players similar salaries to what other clubs in League 2 are able to offer BUT that the packages he would be offering where performance based and that if a player and the team performed to their expectations that his player would make a very comfortable living from a basic plus bonus structured package.

He wanted all his squad to realise that it was in their hands to receive good money if they provided results and entertainment that would encourage more fans through the gates which again would be part of the players incentive package.

I doubt anybody on here knows how our players are paid (and quite rightly so) but if it is a system similar to Carlisle then I'm all in favour of a performance linked package.

However if during the past season the players have been paid according to performance then........

Still a lot of clubs who have win bonuses.

Can only see this working as a team incentive, not individual singling players out .

Most footballers in all divisions are paid win bonuses, including ours , individual bonuses are negotiated by players agents , and players without agents are as common as hens teeth nowadays.
