No Sale

The longer the silence continues the more I am convinced that there is little or no interest from buyers.
IF this is the case then we will not sign players of the calibre we have just lost and we will in my opinion be relegated.
Ask yourselves what have we got to offer to any new players with (in my opinion only again) a reduced budget and a threadbare squad.Unless we use youth players we can't currently put out a team and fill a bench and if my maths are right the players return to traning next week.
Not exactly promising is it?

I said weeks ago , nothing is imminent and that still stands unfortunately, if no one wants to buy the club ,it's no ones fault.

Once again thanks to Mr P for this unofficial statement that I suspect we all thought would be the case.

It certainly doesn't argue well for team building as we move closer to the first day of pre season training.

I just hope that our management team can get a competitive squad together otherwise it's going to be a long hard season with the prospect of a certain battle against relegation ahead which will have serious repercussions on the club's finances.

How has our great club got itself into such a position of impending gloom...,,

Depends on how realistic PMG is being as regards his sale price. If he's holding out to get all of his money back, then that's completely unrealistic - he's basically expecting someone else to pay for the historic losses which isn't going to happen. If he's willing to write off significant amount of the money he's put in to cover recent losses, then there's more likelihood of someone willing to buy it. Considering that any buyer is buying a loss making business that will make significant losses for a few more years until it's turned around, and that the buyer will also have to heavily invest in the club to turn it around, it's a big ask anyway, but to be expected to pay for past losses too is probably a step too far.

Certainly looks as though my dream team of Graham Hodgson and Rod Taylor was nothing more than wishful thinking on my and others part.

I would think they would need a rich backer for that to happen , I wonder if Graham's boss is interested in football ;)

To an outsider its hard to get a grasp of what assets the club actually owns and which individuals own other land and assets at The Globe.

Would we have fared better by staying at Christie ? Pros are we were on a main bus route. We had a great home end stand that gave a great view and a great atmosphere. Hard-core supporters loved Christie and undoubtedly we have lost a good number of them , maybe forever.
Cons of staying at Christie. A decaying main stand that had very limited corporate facilities. The stand would have needed replacing and the cost would have needed finance.

The Globe has a turnover which is around £1 million more than Christie and yet the losses have increased !

Good luck to anyone doing due diligence on the club's books

And the move to The Globe was going see us "being self financing and financially secure for life".

It has all gone dramatically wrong.

We should have stayed at Christie and redeveloped it. We've lost so many fans it is ridiculous.

Lets face it, the move to The Globe has been fraught with problems since the late delivery of the project and (the lack of) Gravy-gate with the pies in the very first game.

My hopes were raised when PMG declared he was hopeful of completing a sale by the end of May, but now, I'm concerned and worried for our future. More than ever before.

On and off the pitch.

I believe the price PMG is wanting is far less than what is being speculated, I also believe that he is not as ''well off'' , as people think ,and the club is a massive financial burden, hes never going to say these things though ,is he?

It may well be that the financial input of PMcG into our club has finally caught up with him and that his need to sell is born out of a case of needing to cash in on what assets he holds in our club to secure his own retirement future.... :?: :?: :?:

Whatever his motives are then we all owe him a debt of gratitude for how he has progressed our club during his tenure.

I prefer to offer my thanks rather than be judgemental and wish him well.

It's a pity that the other millionaires on the Board are unable for whatever reasons to take up the reins, just as it's a pity that we the fans are unable to provide the necessary guarantors for a fans committee to take control as has happened at a number of other clubs.... :?: :?: :?:

I agree entirely; whilst the future currently looks bleak, without PMcG and his ongoing input we would not be in the football league.

We wouldn't be in the FL. No doubt about it.

Some official updates though from the club into the ongoing situation would be nice, seeing as we are trying to sell season tickets currently.

Just some news to give people a bit of inspiration and confidence......

Where's Kendal Shrimp when we need his insider info....OR some speculation from that fly on the wall....OR some words of wisdom and inspiration from Mr P.....OR better still an official update from our leaders, both on and off the pitch..... :?: :?: :?:

If I was an investor, with no pre-existing interest in the club but who wanted to buy the club, I could easily see the amount of debt the club has, how it is struggling to pay those debts, and I would just wait for the club to go bust, buy it for a fraction of it's value with the debt wiped clean.

If some of the figures on here about the scale of money the club is losing each year is true, we're not just looking for millionaires, we're looking for multi-millionaires to plug the gap in finances. And what return are they going to get for their money if they have no interest in the team.

It would be nice to think there is a white knight sat atop a horse ready to come and rescue us, but we're in a predictament, and quite frankly, the only person who is going to buy us will have more money than sense, because the club is only going to end up costing them a lot of money over the years.

I don't apologise for being negative - I'm not sure why some people think someone was going to come in as soon as the season finished, buy the club and chuck their cheque book in Jim's direction.

And if the news that you want the club to give is not what you want to hear????? Be careful what you wish for.....it could ruin your Summer :(

Not negative at all.....just a sense of realism of this on going saga that appears to have no end.

Agree with this, have thought it all along. PMG stated that we should be even after the Premier money had come in, the offices and stuff were built and the cost cutting had taken place.
We havn't had the facilities behind the goal sorted yet, never mind the offices etc.
The cost cutting certainly seems to be the focus at the moment

I'm putting my hopes on what happens in 11 days and 6 hours

Why would the Gala Night give any hope ?

We only have 12 players to sponsor !

Nobody is, or would be, waiting for the club to go bust, they would then have to start again, way down the leagues, won't ever happen.

The latest rumour I have heard is Jim will have a maximum of 16 senior pro's and the rest of the squad will be made up of youngsters. The same reliable source has also been told that not one potential buyer has expressed an interest in looking at the clubs books.

Hope this rumour is proved to be untrue.

No WAY can you have a Football League team competing with just 16 senior pro's.

Worried.

Embarrassing (if true)
