We could bring the Barnet home game forward to December when both teams exit the FA Cup in the first round :o :o

Probably couldn't have asked for a better first month. Blackpool should get the floating fans in, the club then needs to get them coming back! A decent league cup draw/performance/result would be useful too!

Looking from a revenues point of view only, far fewer Tuesday night home games and fewer home games in the depths of winter which will mean our revenues should be higher from the increased Saturday matches and those in better weather which may help to halt the declining attendances. Also, a good start with Blackpool at home in August should bring in plenty of money to top up the kitty. Let's hope the club doesn't agree any changes to move any Saturday matches to evenings or Sundays - the club can't afford it!

Good crowd pullers early on. Let's just hope we don't have to bring our boots.

They don't have a choice if someone asks. Stevenage Away will move to Good Friday. Hope Cheltenham don't move from Saturday to Friday

Grimsby away is a tough one as they'll really be up for it with a big crows behind them. We'll do well to get a point there.

Pompey also have Crewe away on the preceding Saturday so, being in August, might still come in their droves and spend a few days by the seaside... 8-)

Can't understand the logic once again of Mansfield away on Boxing Day nor for that matter Portsmouth at home on a Tuesday especially when you consider the midweek travel involved for the Pompey fans .....
oh silly me.....when did those responsible for compiling the fixtures ever think about the fans....

Accrington on a Saturday when we play Portmouith midweek....bloody stupid :o :o :o

Interestingly all North West based clubs ie MFC; CFC, BFC and ASFC are all away on Boxing Day and face fairly long journeys for their fans.

Also notice how those clubs at home on Boxing Day are also at home for their next game over the festive period.

Monday December 26

15:00 Cheltenham Town Barnet
15:00 Crewe Alexandra Carlisle United
15:00 Grimsby Town Accrington
15:00 Hartlepool Blackpool
15:00 Leyton Orient Crawley Town
15:00 Luton Town Colchester
15:00 Mansfield Town Morecambe
15:00 Newport Portsmouth
15:00 Notts County Doncaster Rovers
15:00 Plymouth Argyle Wycombe
15:00 Stevenage Cambridge United
15:00 Yeovil Town Exeter City
Saturday December 31

15:00 Cheltenham Town Wycombe
15:00 Crewe Alexandra Accrington
15:00 Grimsby Town Blackpool
15:00 Hartlepool Morecambe
15:00 Leyton Orient Cambridge United

Actually it was copied from the official Sporting Life sites football section which is there for everybody to copy if they wish.

No mention of copyright protection or anything similar.

They changed the process a few years ago to make longer games mid-week to create extra revenue for clubs.

Yes it is a pain for fans, but Accy at home on a Sat would create more revenue than Pompey at home on a Tues, they say.

Just goes to show how little they know about the travelling fans of both clubs.

Accy on Saturday possibly 300 in we are lucky.
Pompey on a Saturday 800+

Accy on a Tuesday 200
Pompey on a Tuesday 350?

I like to think that a new season will bring new opportunities and planners will learn from previous mistakes. Silly me! No doubt the clubs put in their views, but as ever, have been ignored. The fixture list is another dose of reality from the inept, incompetent and uncaring Football League. Virtually all of the games with our closest neighbours are on Saturdays whilst we and visiting clubs have to endure long journeys for Tuesday night fixtures providing limited income for home clubs. Seems that nothing changes in the marble palaces of the fixture planners. No doubt they had a few good lunches whilst assembling the shambolic list. On a serious note though, this is one of the reasons that my interest is beginning to wane.

At this moment in time we will be lucky to get a Point from any game this season :( (sorry nothing come from the club to give me any positivity) :? :?

It can seem silly, but as Chris says, this is the way the Clubs as a whole prefer it

August can be tricky to get big crowds as folk are on holiday or not yet in the mood for watching footy with the summer weather.

MFC will need to promote heavily and possibly even do a package as they are also so close together. Lets take a punt and offer two matches for £25 with no complicated way of purchasing the two match deal. Simply buy on the turnstiles for the first game and in effect get the Pompey game for an extra £7.

Without offers I am guessing the crowds will be roughly:

Morecambe Vs Blackpool - 3500 (1600 Tangerines)
Morecambe Vs Pompey - 2000 (650 Pompey)
