If the rumours are right that the squad is being reduced to 16 f/t pros, then we need to be looking at maybe six good Quality conf north players, who have a well paid job, and can't afford to move to the pay scales full time of national/lower reaches of league 2 , better than youth team players making up the numbers

Nothing wrong with some builders, brickies and plumbers. They would have conceded less goals last season!

So its players from the "successful " youth team to make up the numbers, as opposed to "quality part time players

Some P/T players probably earn more from their respective clubs than some F/T pros with League Clubs.

Granted, they take some finding, but they are out there, eg Jamie Vardy, Stoksbridge park Steels, it's having the contacts, and with the likes of Kenny Mac and his knowledge of non league we have it

Now that really is taking the biscuit.....
In his time with us we've taken only one player from non league who has been anywhere near good enough.
Totally agree that they are out there, problem is we hardly ever seem to find 'em....

Jamille Matt who Blackpool have recently signed from Fleetwood (and was on loan at Plymouth last season) was a superb find from non league Kidderminster Harriers.
They are definitely out there to be found.

Well yes, Matte was a good signing for Plymouth, but Fleetwood did pay six figures for him, so that would rule us out!!

When was the last time we actually paid a fee for a player
Was it Steve Walters....
Long gone are the days when we could pay transfer fees.....
Now it's survival with what we've got.

We paid something for Carl Baker and Mark Duffy.

Duffy left here after 1 season at the globe, around 2011, so if we bought him in 2009 we have done well , 6 years of league football without spending a bean!
Thats a hell of a record!

I think we paid a small fee for little Jack to Alty.

I thought we did also.... But when It came up in conversation with Ken Mckenna he seemed to suggest that we didn't and we just needed to give notice to Alty... he must not have been contracted if that was the case.

Most decent players from non league are being chased by higher clubs than us so we don't get a look in most times. Also some of the players are under 24 so the club gets a fee which unfortunately we don't have two pennies to rub together. Plenty of talent at a price. Darren Stephenson of Chorley who scored 18 goals last season has plenty of league clubs chasing him, so generally we are down the pecking order.

Good player , but Fylde have money so unless he is out of contract they would want a fee.
How's Peter's rehab coming along. Is he getting nearer to training. Everyone here hopes he is.

Yes also one who took Grimsby back to the football league as well.
Basically in a nutshell we are knackered.
