Overreacting

This board has turned into a bunch of kneejerk fans who like to be negative after the first competitive fixture its sort of crazy even calling for the gaffer's head? What the player team said it may take time for the players to get and that is true as they said that at 14:45 as we had a complete over haul of the squad JUST KEEP THE FAITH

NO PROBLEM. Look at the table. Notts County and Plymouth are relegated and we just hang on to our League status for another year. Yes, that's a load of bo**ocks but on a par with some of the doom and gloom posts on here. It's a bad start to the season for us, but that's all it is. If we are still looking for our first win by the end of September, then fair enough. But in the meantime, have a little faith.

You my friend are deluded...the only way we can survive this season is a new manager.
Walking to the station after the game and all the Grimsby fans kept saying we are going down/worst team they have seen in years!
They can see it on one game but still people on here stick up for Bentley!
First game of the season and we should of been at them from the off but we were arful..

It isn't a bad start, its a continuation of the crap we had to pay to endure last season! Don't be fooled!

How long does one KEEP THE FAITH until one becomes a non believer.... :?: :?: :?:

I've watched our club for over 55 years and have gone through many periods of concern and feared the worst about relegation.

But i'm finding it very hard to still have faith in the present management team after the poor performances of last season; a poor preseason and I have to say not a very encouraging start to this season.

Try as hard as I can I find it difficult to have any faith in the managements ability to get us out of what appears to me to be a perpetual slide into non league obscurity. If that happens then it will be the end of MFC as we have come to love. We could become another Barrow, Chester and Wrexham and that is something that is just too hard to accept.

Unless we have a sudden change in tactics then for me the writing is already being written on the wall.

Unfortunately the Board and PMcG have little option other than to stick with what we have for the present, but come November and things haven't changed then they must take action that will be unpalatable to some but for the sake of our club they will have to act.

Jim Bentley is and always will be a legend but the survival of our club is far more important than one man's future. Hard...but true.... :!: :!: :!:

Started first league match of 16/17
McKeown, Davis, Gowling, Boyce, Andrew, Berrett, Summerfield, McAllister, Bolarinwa, Vernon, Jackson

Started Play-Off match, end of 15/16
McKeown, Tait, Nsiala, Disley, Robertson, Gowling, Arnold, Nolan, Clay, Bogle, Amond

Whereas Grimsby had a settled squad from last season?

I agree we shouldn't be over reacting. But we also need to avoid making desperate excuses rather than face the reality. Our relegation battle began yesterday.

We did lose our opening game last season away at Hartlepool... but in that game we at least competed and had chances to get something. On Saturday we were second best all over the park from start to finish. If we are to go down, lets go down fighting instead of this timid turged crap that a declining number of people endure.

Exactly, let's

ENTERTAIN.

If it still goes pear shaped, so be it. But give it a go Jim, believe in ourselves.

For me the best bit of pre-season were the trialists and youngsters on the first Saturday. Everything since was "same old, same old", the same faces, the same (lack of) tactics, etc.

The highlight was the young academy lad who looked about 12, came on for the last few minutes. Apart from him falling over when his legs weren't going as fast as his head as he ran for a 50/50 (which showed a fighting spirit the others didn't have), he set up a good goal. He really gave the opposition defence something to worry about. Yes, I know he's too young for our first squad (probably nearer 18 than 12), but that's exactly what we're missing.

Entertainment and something to interest the fans.

Why?. If he's good enough, He's old enough.

The final nail for Jim has to be the fact that he has started a new season with the same old tactics that saw us become the leagues whipping boys last season.
