Anyone know how much tickets are going to be for the "checkatrade" trophy. It's a 7.00pm kickoff as well

I thought we were boycotting this tournament as a protest at the inclusion of premiership academy teams? I think the club would benefit long term if we did so, even if there is a short term loss of revenue, and focussed our support on the other cup competitions, as it would hopefully kick the academy idea into touch.

Correct. No one should be planning on attending this fixture.

The attendance figures will certainly make for interesting reading.
Attendances at the (old) JPT / Leyland Daf / Freight Rover / Auto Windscreens (showing my age again) fixtures were always traditionally lower, but I can see these games all being in their "hundreds".

Everyone has the right to decide for themselves whether or not they want to attend this fixture based on their principles and beliefs, and should be allowed to attend if they wish.

Correct, people can choose to be a scab if they wish.

Think that's a bit harsh Shrimpy. I agree John, people do have the right to choose, but as I said, my opinion is that it would help the club more long term if we send a message to the EFL that we don't want the inclusion of the Premiership academy sides.

As I've said previously. Paying money to attend fixtures in this competition is essentially you telling the Football League that you are happy with U21 / U23 / Premier League B teams playing against our first team. When these sides are introduced into the lower leagues it will be those of you who are attending these fixtures that are to blame.

A scab? Really?
I hope you have boycotted all the EFL sponsors such as sky sports, channel 5 etc etc
I'm personally looking forward to the games especially Stoke U23's.

I'm boycotting the competition as the only way to get the message to the Football League that we don't want to play competitive fixtures against Premier League B Teams is to simply not attend them and have these games played to an empty crowd.
As I said, you're more than welcome to go to the games, it's your choice but when / if English football is ruined forever by having B teams placed in the league structure it's your attendance at these fixtures that will have caused it.

Do fans really think boycotting games will have any affect on the powers that be.....
I WILL attend as not doing so will mean that our club will be affected financially which as we all know is already strapped for cash.
I DON'T support the inclusion of U21/U23 teams in the competition but I DO support our club who will be directly harmed by the assumed low gate.
As for being regarded as a SCAB....

Don't forget CC that gate receipts are split 50/50 after all the usual deductions from gate receipts for officials etc etc.
There was talk a couple of seasons ago about the proposal to create a new "League 4" and inviting some of the "bigger" Vanarama Conference clubs and Premier League "B" / Reserve Teams to join.
Disastrous had it happened and hopefully it never will.
How many of those clubs away fans would travel to watch games?? None.
It should never have been discussed in the first place.
Same with allowing these Under 23 Development Squads to play on the FL Trophy or whatever its called. Shouldn't have even been discussed, shouldn't be allowed.
Stoke City Under 23's Development Squad at home on a chilly Tuesday evening anyone??
Not exactly enticing is it.

Neil,
I object to the scab accusation as well, in spite of the fact I agree with a boycott. You say it will harm the club's coffers, but how much more will they be harmed if we end up with development squads in the league, which I believe has already been discussed at league level - this is just a first step.

We all have choices to make and this is up to the individual to decide.
I choose to attend...but that's my choice and to be called a SCAB because I decide to attend is uncalled for.
Interestingly those Directors who are part of the discussion group are well up for the games...as you well know.
As for seeing Development Squads in a restructured league....I somehow think that the combined negativity of our league and its fan base will deter any such move. I'm totally against any such an attempt as I'm confident are the overwhelming thoughts of the clubs and their fan base.

Take the £20, £30, £40 or whatever you would have spent on the day for your ticket, pie, pint, programme etc and spend it in the club shop instead, or buy two tickets for a League fixture.
Plenty of other ways to support the club financially if your concern over boycotting is the club missing out financially.

The overwhelming thoughts of fans were against B teams being allowed in the FL Trophy, yet here we are with a competitive game against Stoke's U23's.
Fans weren't consulted on this, the decision was left to the clubs who having had some Premier League ££££ dangled in front of their eyes voted in favour of it, going against the vast majority of fans wishes.
It's up to us fans now to show the clubs / Football League that we don't want this and won't just swallow our pride and accept any old crap they decide to dream up. Boycotting the fixtures is the only way they will get the message.

Bury are a league 1 side. As are Bradford. Surly the only game to boycott is Stoke u23? But I will be at them all. Supporting our team.

Surely the game to boycott is the one against Stoke development squad. The games against Bury and Bradford are fine IMHO.
If they had made it into groups of football League clubs only say , Morecambe , Bury , Bradford and Carlisle it would have made sense.
For the Stoke game we could have a collection from those boycotting and hand the money over to Morecambe FC as a donation. That way the club doesn't have to split it with Stoke and doesn't have to pay V.A.T. over either.

In my view the competition is tainted by having the teams in it and as such won't be attending any of the fixtures but can understand those who feel only the Stoke fixture is worth boycotting.
