1791

I said the other day that I had finished posting on this forum but I have to express deep concern following yesterdays gate of 1791 which included a good number from Doncaster (guess estimates of 500?) that should ring alarm bells in the ears of the Board as to what our future gates against teams with little travelling support will be. Will gates of less than 1000 become the norm.... :?:

The utter garbage dished up yesterday will only result in a further drop in gates not aided by some questionable substitutions and an obvious lack of touchline activity by the manager during the majority of the match.

I seriously think that Jim and Co have lost the confidence of the clubs fans as well as the majority of the squad in both their tactical and style of play that has resulted in 11 goals against in the last 3 games. A throw back to the lows of last season that unless action is taken will see a repeat this season that could be even worse as we no longer have a strike force( :?: ) that can deliver the number of goals that we saw last season.

Jim will remain a legend but how long can the club continue to back him when the signs of another relegation campaign are already beginning to take shape.... :?: :?: :?:

Let's be honest when was the last time we actually took control of a game and dictated the play.... :?: :?: :?:

Come on, it can only rise once we put up a calendar in the local takeway.

It was a pathetic gate taking into account the weather , attractive opposition who brought a decent number of fans (not like Dagenham with a mini car full ), 2nd in league table.

Just watched the "highlights" on player and headless chickens running about would have more idea how to defend than our back 4. How many goals did they score where our defenders are lying on the ground after trying to tackle.

Thanks for the comradeship over the last decade but that's it.

Too many personal attacks that I simply don't need in particular those of last week where the language of a certain individual hit an all time low that even made my wife questioned why I bothered.

Sad that it's come to this but time to move on.....

To paraphrase CC,

It's a shame you rarely engage in anything I ever ask, preferring to play the martyr.

Had you actually answered the question I asked, rather than dragged up unrelated issues over the takeover, and made your ridiculous comment about the respect of other fans, perhaps I wouldn't have posted what I did.

See you on your comeback.

Just to point out Neil, the comments were removed as soon as I saw them and 'the person' informed that personal attacks in that manner were inappropriate and they were publicly threatened with a period of 'time out'. It was hardly a general attack and wasn't left unmoderated.

And you do wind each other up!

Come Back CC and just ignore any remarks from one particular individual.

If you just ignore them and don't rise to the bait they soon get tired of it.

Half of those who attended were only there out of a sense of duty (emotional blackmail etc) rather than actually coming to enjoy the entertainment. There's a limit to what people will pay to watch (and waste an afternoon). More and more people are finding other things to do. Sad, but that's how bad things have become and they'll only get worse without major changes.

Major changes on and off the pitch are needed in order to entice fans back, but we seem to have been raking over this fact for 3 or 4 years, CC's silence was very noticeable when things were looking up and we were at the top, he's quick to critisise the management, but even quicker to heap praise on the outgoing chairman, who, despite achieving great things for the club , is in danger of being remembered as the man who let it stagnate and return to non league mediocrity.

Hang in there CC. I always enjoy reading your posts. People like you are the mainstay of our Club.

Guys.....try not to antagonise each other too much. We need to pull together during these uncertain times.

COYS :D :D :D

And that seems ridiculous.

The first home match against Blackpool , the team came from behind and put in a really good performance to beat a team who had been signing strikers of the calibre of Matt (from Fleetwood) and Vassall(from Posh).

The next home match we beat the best team in the division Portsmouth 2 nil in a really exciting game.

Then we more than matched a Premier League side in the EFL Cup and were very unlucky not to get extra time.

The game against Orient although we lost , the team put in a workmanlike performance and tried their hardest without ever looking as though they were at their best.

Nothing really in the first 4 matches to warrant a turnout of under 1,200 home fans.

Most people have longer memories than the last 4 matches. There's been precious little entertainment and a lot of frustration for the last 4 years which has caused a gradual loss of fans on a yearly basis. Just look at all the seats in the C/D/E blocks that were season ticket holders in previous years and aren't now (obvious from the stickers on the seats) - that shows how many people havn't renewed their season tickets. A couple of decent matches won't turn around a few years of people walking away.

In the Conference for nearly a decade we were winning over 50% of our games. Then in the first couple of seasons in the League at Christie we made home advantage work for us with some great results backed up by a roaring North Stand.

That was expected to continue at the Globe but Sammy bought largely crap and since then on a pisspoor budget we've won around 30% of our games. To be honest it's difficult to see how we could do much better. Little has been done off the pitch to think really creatively to drive the club forward, so we're in a cycle of decline.

If I was a new owner I'd be really looking to change the model and do something radically different. Throwing loads of money at it will only give a short-term unsustainable gain, however fun it may be.

1100 home fans on a Saturday is worryingly low. I couldn't make it but expected 2000+ with a good 500 from Donny. Perhaps with three big home games to kick off with and some good football we were expecting the lost fans to turn up but it seems after one bad result we are back to where we were at the back end of last season.

CC has had more comebacks than the Spice Girls. He will be back again soon ;)

Couldn't believe how quiet it was in hospitality , even with such a good offer of a BOGOF the room was virtually empty . I don't think i have ever seen the bar area in the Wright & Lord so empty this early in the season. :o

This. In every respect this.

With our current squad we will get the odd thumping. It's like Blackpool being in the prem and getting grief that they're not in the bloody champions league.

It's almost like leaving the eu all over again. Watching people cut their nose off to spite their faces and picking the one positive we've still got!

......and what if the new owner puts a bit of money in , and a few new faces appear, things improve on and off tbe pitch , a bar behind the home end, attacking entertaining football, etc. and still only 1400 or so locals turn up every home game?

we already know 2400 per match is the break even point, is that achievable?

Re: 1791

2400 is definitely achievable but that depends where. We would have to be near the top of league one l, winning games to achieve those numbers! Ultimately, a lot of people are glory supporters and if we were smashing this league by April then the most of the "forever lost disillusioned" Morecambe fans would soon turn up again.
