Some psychological help may be needed

I am increasingly of the opinion there must be a psychological block to playing well and relaxing for a number of the players when at home. I suspect some of them feel under enormous pressure to play better which in turn is stressing some of them out resulting in poor performances. I think this is evident in the amount of hoofing the ball up the park to get rid of the ball as quickly as possible- and no one in midfield or the back 4 being available to receive the ball. Football is all about confidence but the team clearly lacks confidence at home.I don't believe for a minute that Jim instructs them every week to play like they do.

I know of one motivational speaking former sports person that did a session with the squad and felt that he was wasting his time.

Maybe if both Jim and Ken got off the players backs during a game and stop shouting instructions nearly every minute and let the players take control ON the field rather than being dictated to OFF the pitch things could improve.
I've noticed how few managers these days issue a continual stream of instructions during a game.
Maybe our two should do the same and see if that has any change in our home form.
Didn't go on Saturday as we were at a wedding of my cousin and his boyfriend, which was something i'd never experienced before. Excellent do and never gave a thought to the match until someone passed me the result.
And get Jim to wear a suit...anything other than the shorts and track suit top.....he's no longer one of the lads. He's the Boss and has to be seen by all as being the Boss....

Interesting point CC and something I have thought about.
In rugby the coach sits in the stands for the whole match just about they don't stand on the touchline ranting and raving like loonies, but if a football manager doesn't do this fans say they are not been passionate. I presume the captain barks out the on field instructions if needed or the players are seen as been clever enough to work it for themselves.
Same in cricket the coach doesn't do anything during the game it's all down to the captain.

That's it in a nutshell!!
Home games the players can hear the instructions.
Away games, with a crowd making noise, they can't

We cant have it both way's Some want JB up off his seat, Other's want him sat down
Personally I like to see him up giving instructions. Watch Klopp and Jose tonight, Bet there both stood during the game.

That's the way I see it, not just instructions but encouragement, when things are going wrong Jim seems to retreat further into the dugout his body language comes over as someone who has gave up, that's when the team needs him most.

Thing is that Jim picks on a player and shouts at him continually. I usually sit in the red seats and all I ever hear is "flemmo", "flemmo", "flemmo" or "moly", "moly", moly", or "Mullin", "mullin", "Mullin" accompanying various hand gestures throughout the match. Very, very rarely does he shout at anyone else, and I've never heard him shout to Kev. If you're constantly hearing your name being shouted at you, it's going to make your nervous and you're going to keep looking over to Jim, so you're not concentrating on the game.
Was it last season (or the one before), when they were going through a dry patch at home with a series of home losses. Jim was ill and wasn't at the match and against the odds, the lads won it. After, Jim joked he should stay away more often! Is there something in that?

Sitting in Stand
Depressing I hear Flemmo's name being shouted often, usually followed by "Bloody useless" and "get off the pitch". Many times with more fruity words being thrown in to the mix. Hardly gonna raise confidence in someone who is sorely lacking in it.
Jim isn't the only one on their backs and at least Jim has the decency to not swear at them in public.

Unlike Roche who told a fan to 'f**k off' during the second half on Saturday after the fan in the Omega shouted sarcastically 'well done Barry'. Highlight of the match for me.

Natural reaction I would say

It's one particular individual. One match he said something along the lines of 'what are you giving it to Fleming for? He's done nothing all game', at which I leaned over to him and said 'except produce the only save of the match so far'. He huffed and shut up for a bit then!

The same one who last season called Devitt a "useless ugly git" about 3 minutes before he was announced as MOTM.

That's half the reason I don't buy my season ticket for the PMG Stand.
Imagine spending £300+ on your season ticket and getting sat near to some embarrassing gob sh*te week after week.
It was bad enough at the Stoke City match the other week when I paid for a seat for a change and had the most loud mouthed idiot EVER sat on the row just behind me. He convinced me I will stand forever more when I attend....!!!!

At least he seems to have moved. Now we just have the kid who, everytime the ball hits an opposition player's head, knee, chest (and sometimes foot), or their 'keeper picks the ball up, shouts 'handball'! He's even missed genuine handball shouts. A little light relief on an otherwise dreary Saturday afternoon.
