Jims Pre & Post Match Interviews

Just a few snippets for you from Jims pre game interview with Radio Lancs on Friday:

"Take the lead, it's important"

"The first goals massively important"

"We'll be going all out to get that all important first goal"

"That's the message to the lads, lets try our hardest, lets get out the traps, lets try and get a goal up, lets take the game to Exeter and that's what we'll be doing"

The result? 1-0 down after 4 minutes.

Some further quotes from Jim:

"There can't be so much negativity, doom and gloom if we go 1 goal down"

"But you've got to look at all eventualities, if we do go 1 goal down everyone's got to remain calm and keep plugging away"

2-0 down after 16 minutes.

I'm sorry, but for me that speaks volumes. Either whatever message Jim is trying to get across to them during the week is falling on deaf ears or they simply aren't playing for him any more.

Now onto his post game interview:

"You've got to look at what you've done in the week, we think we've got it right, we've prepared them right"

"I said to them, you've got to buck up because ultimately if you don't, we can't keep having this, there will have to be changes made, obviously we can't do nothing outside the window, but there will be changes made thats for sure because we can't keep having this scenario every week at home, keep going early goals behind and not having enough to drag us back and man up and be professionals about it"

Jim clearly thinks hes doing the right thing and is preparing them right as he says. Firmly laying the blame at the feet of the players. Is it a case that the players aren't doing as they are told or that they are simply just woefully short of what is required at this level?

Whatever it is, it sounds like that if Jim is still in a job come January that many of the players may not be!

The pre game stuff I find absolutely shocking, what we witnessed in that first half was completely at odds with what the manager said they have been discussing and having drilled into them all week in training. If the manager can't get his message across to the players and get them performing how they've been training all week then should he be allowed to continue in his role?

Yes , when I listened to that I came to the same conclusion. Jim has been told he can go out in January and sign better players.

We still lose at home whether conceding early goals or not.
It was 0-0 after 72 minutes v. Crawley and we still lost that game.
I have thought for a long time that JIm has no real idea what his best starting eleven is, and the problem that has existed for several seasons is still there, namely no midfield challenge or enforcement.
Once again, a team comes to the Globe and strolls around the pitch, passing the ball as they please and not really having to work too hard.
I am sickened by watching this spectacle match after match after match.
Our players play as if they are on appearance money, and just there to collect their wages.
Very very disappointing to watch, and a long way away from those Christie Park days of giving it a right go with all guns blazing.

Whose responsibility is it to motivate players? Whose responsibility is it to decide the way we play? These same players do OK away from home and much of this team are not the same as last year when the situation was exactly the same. Sorry but management must take the blame. It's OK saying we must get the first goal and not succeed it but if the team is told to defend so deep that the opposition can stroll up to our penalty area without a challenge and hope that we deal with subsequent crosses then 9 times out of 10 we are not going to keep the first goal out. Management :?

He replaced almost the entire defence in the summer and it's even worse than it was. Who's fault is that? It can't be his, it never is.

Whenever things are tough one of his many go to responses is "we're looking to bring in extra bodies". In the last 3 seasons he's brought in 22 players and 3 months into this season he's already talking about changes.

Whether he has money to spend in January or not, I'm not sure I'd trust him to identify the right targets. Not just because more often than not the players aren't up to the standard but we have no style of play. We could have a 30 goal a season striker up front but he wouldn't get the service. We could have Paul Scholes in midfield but every time we got possession it would be lobbed 50 yards up the pitch over his head.

This is what pee'd me off about Sammy Mac towards the end, and I expressed it frequently on here, so I suspect that's where Jim's got it from. The manager is responsible for training, tactics, team selection and motivation, so if it's not working, he has to take at least some responsibility instead of just blaming the players.

Players play to the instructions given to them by management. It's been the same style for 3 seasons now, so the blame lies firmly at the door of the management. It's they who instruct the back line to hoof it forward. It's they who insist on the long balls from a defender to the opposite wing. It's they who refuse to provide an out for Cole when he wins the ball (look closely at Reed yesterday. Every time he won the ball he had a colleague in close attendance to pick up Reeds following pass) When did we last see any of Cole's colleagues near enough to do the same.

It's about time that our management team took a long hard look at their tactics and admitted that for the last few seasons they have got it badly wrong.

People want to be entertained for their hard earned money. I wonder if the management would put up with such dross if they were in the fans shoes. I think not... so it's no surprise that some are walking away.

Yesterday Exeter strolled around the pitch because they where allowed to do so. Our midfield as usual went AWOL allowing their midfield to control the game and determine the ultimate outcome. It's criminal the amount of open space that there is in the centre of the park and our striker. You could drive a double decker bus in the space and yet nothing changes.

So for me the lack of home performances lies firmly with the management and their apparent refusal to change their method of play.

I'm surprised he didn't blame the rain! He blames everything else! He has to go for the good of the club, he has no idea how to set up a team to attack, they are hopless in defence despite the fact he changed the personnel from last season. That says it's not the players it's the management

Notwithstanding my comments above, which I stand by, there is an aspect to the hoof ball which isn't, in my opinion, entirely down to tactics. We have a tendency to play better football against better sides; is this because they allow us more room because of their style of play? Sides that are struggling are more aggressive and close us down quicker, resulting in more panic clearances. We need to learn from them and do the same, as well as getting stuck in and tackling, a talent sadly missing from many of our players. The best tackling yesterday came from Rose and, oddly, Massanka.

But who is running the show , if you was watching a game for the first time ( and possibly your last) you would think Ken McKenna was manager ,the other fella just stands there with his hands in his pockets , or sits on the drinks thing if things a re going badly . Watched Tisdale yesterday , hardly moved from the edge of his technical area. Very calm and didn't need to tell his players much they We're playing to a well thought out plan to beat a very unorganized opponent :(

The backstabbers would shy away from a forum, or act like acolytes, pretending to like him.
