No wonder the club is losing money ...........

I took my son down to the club shop this afternoon so he could spend his birthday money and to treat my self to a training top and guess what, it was closed, on a Satuday afternoon, on the run up to Christmas. My son, being a typical 10 year old had to spend his money today so we went to Sports Direct and spent between us the best part of £100, £100 that would have been spent on MFC merchandise. It hurts me to say this but the club that I have supported for more years than I dare to remember is in free fall on and off the pitch. Which other club in the football league would have it's club shop closed, on a Saturday during the season, match day or not. Rant over, I will be at the next home game with my son but unfortunately our £100 will be elsewhere.

To be fair most club shops for clubs with such a small fan base when the club is playing away....also wasn't there a mention of this going to be the case on here yesterday...can't remember which thread...if it was a week or two before Christmas possibly bad but not yet.......bit unfair on the club really

You gave £100 to Mike Ashley?

It was mentioned in another thread that the club are shutting the shop on non matchday Saturdays as a cost cutting measure.

I did notice that the Official Twitter feed announced yesterday that the shop would be closed today and it was also mentioned on here somewhere or other.

None of which helps you now sadly, admittedly.

Sorry but cost cutting measure my a..e. When I was outside the shop a young couple walked up with a youngster of about 4, who like myself could not believe the shop was closed, how many other customers were lost today, on a Saturday. If you are going to shut the club to save money do it on weekdays when most people are working, not on Saturday. I'm sorry if this rant appears to be petty but it really does sum up, to me anyway, where this club has gone wrong in the last couple of years or so.

Seems not a cost cutting measure at all but just a one off as per the OWS opening hours page. Bit poor to close if it's just the staff off today - there must be someone who could run it. Probably assumed that any customers would just come another day so nothing lost - but that's not how it works, people go elsewhere and don't bother going back, especially if they've made a special journey.

Just to confirm, the OWS states "Non Match Saturday. 9am-1pm. 1:30pm-4:30pm". No mention of a closure for today on OWS.

Small print at the top of the page! Not very noticeable - should have been in red alongside the line you quoted.

If as said the club didn't put it on the OWS then that is extremely lax and shouts amateurism.

Could it be staffed by unpaid volunteers on non-matchday Saturdays to maximise income without running up costs or is that a no no ?

The shop's opening hours are "flexible" to say the least. On a day when it was scheduled to open at 10am, I was stood outside waiting until 10.15 and nothing was happening. I went to reception and the guy was there chatting away to the other staff. Not very professional.

My mistake, it does indeed state that the shop will be closed today, but easy to miss. However, still wondering how much income the club has lost today by been closed on a Saturday.

Not being funny mate but staff wages will probably outway the profit that could have been made!

Or organising a bucket collection... ffs. Wouldn't put a penny in myself, shit happens. Get real - wouldn't go anywhere near to even buying a pie and a pint for everyone. The Club is goosed. Nobody listened, nobody seemed to give a shit as long as they were OK, the 'batting above our weight' and 'lucky to be here' crowd were right, because we clearly were and are.
Exactly the mentality that stopped me coming, i.e... what's the point? (That wasn't really a question, but didn't really read right without the question mark).
Back to the point, I have been three times to use my voucher at the shop and all three times it was shut, unfortunately, like most Morecambe fans, I work for a living so can't get there during the 'opening hours'.
Voucher still in my wallet. Yes,the shops open match days, but the last thing I want to do on a match day is queue in the shop! It's money lost elsewhere!
So many things could have been and should have been changed. But no.
I am one of nine that used to come every week to Christie, wasn't the best football, but wasn't all about that. None of us come anymore. Nobody listened. We are clearly not alone.

What a pathetic excuse. Queuing patiently is British culture. I might walk out of the bank, ASDA or even in to the road next week if there is a queue/wait

Errr not being funny but it would only take one member of staff to man the busy shop for about 6hrs on a Saturday, so paying them a tenner an hour is only £60. Im sure there would have been other people visit the shop besides our Posters.

There's only a queue immediately before and after a game. Turn up a little earlier or hang around a little later and you won't have to get uncomfortably close to another human being...

And it's open until 6pm on Thursdays and Fridays :D

Here goes........... It's not just about the club shop.............it's about the design of the Globe, (big yawn) no gravy, no peas, no cover behind the Omega, club not listening, club putting corporates before regular fans, unable to buy advance match tickets when shop closed even though reception is staffed, stewards too robust, club too quick to ban supporters when other clubs would talk first, no atmosphere, (see earlier sentence) crap planning as in let's play that Chinese team when there is a massive free festival on in town, player open days when some children have returned to school, lose the support of long term sponsors and finally, lose the support of approximately a third(if not more) of your fan base. The future is Scarborough, the future is Hereford and does it really matter if the club shop is closed on a Saturday, YES,because any business that can't get the basics right will not be in business and the way our club/my club has evolved over the last couple of years makes me fearful for how long we will have a club. Second rant of the day over and out.

And it's replies of that sort that make me think, just fuck off. Once again, I have a lifetime ticket and I can't be arsed anymore. We are Morecambe, not United, who the hell wants to turn up early on a match day to buy a Morecambe top? Rather be in the pub with my mates, elsewhere drinking cheaper ale than the Morecambe bar charges. People like you piss me off so much, 'well this is what you should do, you idiot' - 'there's an easier way'... 'it's your fault'.... no fuck off, you will have no Club soon if you can't see what I am trying to get across, exactly the reason so many people have fucked off (as well as the standard of football). Me included. Cheers anyway... ta ra!

people need to chill out, people are overreacting, so what if we end back playing in non league.

SVs and the Globe needs more humour humour injecting into it.
