Last night I recieved a call from a lady called Cath, claiming to be from Burnley FC, she asked if I would consider joining a club lottery raising money for prostate cancer research, £2 per week, she had my name and address details but just needed to update my bank details for the direct debit, I told her I never give my bank details over the phone, she then said she would post me some info, I have contacted the club and it appears to be a scam, I have given them the phone number she rang from, this type of scam is apparently on the rise,involving different cancer charities etc

Apart from warning fans who may fall for this sort of thing, I felt it was worth sharing on here as it also highlights a major flaw in potential plans for an unofficial fans lottery, as there are plenty of dishonest folk using these schemes as a way of conning well meaning fans.
