What action is taken against poor referees?

What action is taken against poor referees?

Postby fulwoodshrimp » Tue Dec 20, 2016 9:06 am

Saturday's referee was the worst I have seen watching the beautiful game. It set me thinking what happens to poor referees like Mr. Salisbury. Does the match assessor pat him on the back and congratulate him on his performance or does he take him to one side and advise him to forget about being a referee? I saw nothing in his performance to suggest that with help and advice Saturday's referee could develop into a reasonable official. In my opinion the beautiful game is tarnished by such an abysmal performance.

Check out the guys record this season. That seems a rather large number of reds that he's dished out.

He'll be congratulated for pissing off the supporters, sending a manager to the stand and will be fast-tracked to the Premier League next season...

Inexperienced rather than poor, this is his first season as a league ref, no excuse but the problem with refs is, nobody wants to do it, an age old problem.

17 games refereed.

58 Yellow cards brandished, 7 Red.

Of the 17 games refereed, only 2 have resulted in home wins.....

He did, in 2010, plus others including Bury away in the JPT last season:

Maybe young Michael is keen to impress...

I accept Saturday's ref. was very inexperienced but he didn't seem to know what constituted a fair tackle and what was a foul. This won't come with experience. In my view he will continue to be a really poor ref. contributing nothing to the beautiful game.

makes you wonder if any of these Officals have even played football at any level.

and what's the criteria when applying to be one, I can imagine the attitude, errrrrr It doesn't matter if you've never played football properly before, it's easy being a Ref and you don't need common sense, you just go by the letter of the law. :?

Maybe they should send his dad next time to see if he is any better.

Sunday League (where he started) is too good for him.

He was truly shocking.

Interesting link down the left hand side of that web link to "Local Clubs".

All manner of clubs listed, PNE, Burnley, Wigan Athletic, etc etc ..... even Lancaster City.

Not Morecambe though.
