Ways to Donate to the Club

Following on from the Bentley gesture yesterday not only have other fans asked how they can donate more but fans of other clubs are now asking how to as well.

A poster on Reddit shared the Bentley story and there are several comments expressing desire to help our situation. Some have tried buying shirts, some would like to donate money, some would like to join FCOM.

The more this story (and others) gets out and fans learn about our plight, the more help we'll get. There have been some great examples in the past, the most famous perhaps was Real Oviedo's remarkable rescue.

Are FCOM, soon to be the supporters trust, actively looking to collect donations? Is there a way we can consolidate fans efforts to help the club?

good thread!

brilliant gesture supporting Jim BTW, and understandable Jim losing it.

however under current circumstances, and this is just my opinion, any money in future spare collectively I would like us to save and put in reserve(with Fcom) to potentially set up and fund a new Morecambe just in case a worse case scenario.

basically I wouldn't want to throw money at a sinking ship about to go bust, any thoughts?

Very negative George ,we ARE still a league club ,we ARE still battling , we ARENT going to give up without a fight , as you say it's your opinion but we don't need your negative shit and that's MY opinion ! ;)

We have a meeting on Thursday, and hopefully a trust update will follow. Probably Friday afternoon.
Anyone wanting to join the Fans Club can still do so via our web site.

I agree we should fund raise and ask tge club if there are particular things we can raise money for. I agree with George to some extent we should have a reserve fund which is there to help the club out if and when they need. I wouldn't just want to throw money at an organisation where we don't even know who or where the owner is

If we had a fund and the directors made an approach to the supporters club for say help with legal fees, x amount to pay wages etc I think that would be best.

Isn't the sensible thing actualy to let FCOM keep hold of any monies raised to use for the proposed supporters trust?

I wouldn't say George meant to sound negative, just realistic, if things do go tits up.

If we survive and a new owner comes in, or the old one remains, the trust now seems more relevent than ever.

The funds could be also be used to fund research into potential buyers

Can't believe I'm doing this..... :o but I actually agree with MrP.

Better if all the money is kept in one account under the administartion of FCOM with any outgoings to be sanctioned by at least 3 elected members of the Trust.

Many, many seasons ago a fund was set up by a Supporters group to help the club BUT it lead to money going elsewhere which lead to a lot of ill feeling within the group... :(

Really think the best way other fans could show their support would be to try and arrange a friendly on 28th Jan against a Prem club who's out of the FA Cup and come on down! If they can't make it then buy merchandise etc online or even a ticket. I hear that all cash now going through the club is being kept away from you know who, so could be a massive boast for our club.

Already suggested Bill on the Accy thread but KendalShrimp told me to get real as it was a stupid idea. :(

with our squad being so small and our league position still being what it is, I think risking injuries would be a concern.

So in that case, get 2 clubs who are out of the cup (PNE and Everton for example) to play each other at The Globe to raise some £££ ??!!

(Awaits being shot down.....!!)

Make it a training open day? Play a game of first teamers v reserves? Get the fans in as a match day and have the bar open and have the proposed disco/ska night after the match

I posted it on reddit, I post a lot about the club on there. This was the first thread to generate a lot of interest.

I wasn't really sure how to respond in regards to donations, I figured the club shop or FCOM membership were the best bets. Perhaps FCOM could set something up for donations, maybe with some sort of token of appreciation sent out in return? Also, reddit loves it whenever a club gives them attention. If anyone with contacts at the club could utilise them, something like an AMA (basically an interview in which users ask questions) or any other official recognition would definitely get the attention (and maybe donations) of a lot of people.

Also, it would be great if some of you joined in on reddit, since unfortunately we are being posted on there more and more and some of you are much more informed than I am. Accounts can be set up without even an email address.

Hope the club shop is open and doing a roaring trade with all this advertising of Morecambe FC.

But you could say the same about a pre-season friendly surely , im just thinking about the cashflow situation or it almost non-existance . Anyway it was just an idea. ;)

Hence mine and others idea about a friendly "fund raising" game between (maybe) clubs already out of the FA Cup.

Cash Flow is King. Especially seeing as we've no gate money revenue for a month.....

I bet some clubs would offer assistance after all the publicity we're having this past 48 hours.

Worth a try ??

I,m not knocking the idea of doing something, just the idea of risking injuries ,a friendly wont be massively supported, and the reduced admission will yield low profit.

Not intending to be negative but it'll probably be seen that way. My worry is what control does the club, by that I mean everyone except Diego, have to stop the money ending up in Diego's pocket? He's still the club owner.
