RIP to a Shrimps Legend.

"More sad news - one of the great Morecambe FC players, Ron Mitchell, has died. Ron, a perfect gentleman, was a superb defender, so much so that Leeds United snapped him up from the Shrimps, where he played alongside the likes of Jack Charlton and Don Revie. Ron also played for the Shrimps at the same time as Ray Charnley, another of the Morecambe legends who went on to greater things.
You'll be missed, Ron."

A member at Heysham Golf Club for many years.

He was sold to Leeds United for £1,000 but only made 4 appearances for them.

Yes , I got that information from Google. There was a clause that if he played 6 games for Leeds , Morecambe would have received another £1,500 !
