Anyone know if the staff got paid today?

The first real test. We won't know who paid them but it's important that the staff get paid. Not only for their own mortgages etc but to have any idea what direction the club is heading in. Or more to the point, if it is STILL heading in the same direction?

True, but today is my pay day and my wages went in at midnight last night ready for me to draw, this morning.

Feel so sorry for anyone involved in this debacle. We're concerned about losing our football club but there are people who I'd guess are not on much more than minimum wage, who won't be able to pay their mortgages/rent/food & electric bill.
How much money have the Fans' Club got in their account? Personally, I'd be happy to see it used for small emergency payments to any staff member who needs one. The players will ultimately get paid by the EFL or PFA (whoever) but other staff won't be getting anything at the moment. Fans' Club using funds in this manner is surely within its constitution or remit as much as paying for ground improvements? Without the people, the club doesn't exist. If wages don't go in today, let's make 'good will' payments (
preferably to be 'donated' back if/when salaries arrive) to try and minimise any hardship.

This is the first real test of Mr Cala's ability to be trusted, which few of us seem to have a great deal of confidence in. If he falls at the first hurdle, we might have to start making plans for Morecambe Town after all. My sympathies go to the staff. I've been through redundancy following the financial crash, and although it worked out OK for me, there will be a huge element of uncertainty for those not being paid and even potentially losing their jobs, as they have bills to pay, commitments to meet, so in spite of Mr P's comments on another thread, that was gallows humour from me, and I have not forgotten the people who stand to lose the most here.

But when some are reliant on the money being in their accounts..this doesn't really help matters

Feel sorry for all concerned. Something needs to be acted on. Bucket Ratting or fund raising page. Happy to spend some of my time at Old Trafford or Etihad when needed with a few volunteers. Hopefully this will be resolved today but won't hold my breath.

Exactly.
And who is going to pay bank charges for any (potential) "refer to drawer" failed DD's etc.
A worrying situation for all concerned. Not good.

The whole fiasco is worrying but what matters is what's in an employee's contract regarding salary payments. If your contract says paid before end of month then your employer is not in breach of contract yet.

Because payment was sent to bank in advance. Payment can still be made today to hit the employees today.

Fair enough Chris.
Let's hope it happens.

To go into staff banks today it will have to before the close of bank business. Any later then it will go in on 1st February.
It is instantaneous once funds are there , the accountant will press a button on his computer and the payments will go through.

Which could put them in breach of contract and instantly dismissible. Not a good move.

Why would the club dismiss them?

Didn't say they would but a new owner will be watching closely. If they wanted to get rid of anyone, for whatever reason, they've just made it much easier.

Maybe HMRC for VAT and/or PAYE, they're very aggressive these days, especially if there's a history of late payment and aren't shy in calling in bailiffs to seize goods.
Maybe bank loan repayments, again, not shy in appointing administrators if loan repayments are overdue.
Maybe suppliers, i.e. food & drink etc for the pre-Christmas party season.
Maybe utilities such as business rates, water, power, etc.
Lots of other things need paying alongside the staff.

According to the Visitor report it was to 'stop us being wound up', which could be one of the above top two

Payments for wages in this scenario would be made making faster payments. If you used the old fashioned BACS way (and I doubt that a business MFC's side does) then to be paid today they'd have to send the money on Friday. On Friday the club was "sold" again.
More likely we outsource it or faster payment it ourselves - and the payments can be made with clear funds in seconds. So when the money is there, the outsourcer would send an invoice, MFC pay clear funds and the payroll provider pay there and then.
I don't know if this information helps!

In his interview with Greg Lambert he says he knows the staff haven't been paid their wages for January but they will be once clearance by the EFL is given, personally I would prefer it to happen the other way around.
