So the club is owned by a guy that forged his dying father's signature, has been declared bankrupt twice and is currently being investigated for fraud. Phew!

Now for Cala et al. to swoop in and get the club for nothing.

Maybe not

“I am very pleased to have been advised by my legal team that Mr Burnard stated in open Court there was no agreement with Mr Cala [sic] in respect of the sale of G50s shares and that Mr Burnard has been notified by the Football League that The Football League would not grant their approval for Mr Cala to become the new owner of the Club in any event."

Cala's group are disputing that comment. Cala does come across as a figure head character and there are far more people involved than we can see. Perhaps Cala will get Mark Dixons old job! :o

Surely with his indiscretions Mr Burnard will not pass the league's fit and proper person test? His footballing record isn't inspiring. Wasn't he chairman of Bedlington Terriers when they went bust?

I have to agree that it would be extraordinary for the EFL to make such a statement about being fit & proper before due processes had been completed. However, hasn't Cala been saying that he was going through that process? Has he already been turned down or was the process put on hold due to the legal situation?

Some how we have to make it clear to Cala that we simply don't want him as owner or for that matter anything to do with our club.

He's caused enough shit in his short stay already and a guy who had to sleep in the club's Boardroom and on a couple of chairs at the Midland suggests he hasn't a bean to his name.

To put it quite simply in words that you may understand....CALA F**K OFF......

Just hope that Spuds prediction of a Sandgrown'n coming to our rescue proves true... :?: :?: :?:

According to the Bay radio commentator, it's not settled yet. It's adjourned for another hearing at the end of March. Burnard is still subject to restrictions as for doing anything with the shares.

Three home games this month should help, as opposed to one last month. I appreciate it's probably not going to pay all the wages, as some are only incurred when matches happen anyway, but it must surely help, especially with the gate against Cambridge to boot. Admittedly Barnet wasn't great and it remains to be seen what we get against Grimsby.

As a guide, Grimsby took 750 fans to Crewe last Saturday so we'd be hoping for similar numbers....

Someone associated with Cala has tweeted:

Case has been adjourned for a trial on 29th or 30th March. Thus we are no clearer.

...but we've got some long distance away games involving overnight accom to also fit in.

Doesn't get any easier does it...

Maybe Don C can renew his offer of paying for away travel.... :?: :?: :?:

Update on the Bay a few minutes ago.

Reading the report on the Bay, no one's won yet, and the club's in limbo with the fraud investigation as no responsible buyer would fork out until that's resolved. At least it would seem if Niborian Shrimp's info's right that the EFL has deemed Cala not fit and proper, and he'll hopefully crawl back under his stone.

The quotes from the solicitors are worth a listen.

Clutching at straws once again, but maybe the new and hopefully reduced asking price for the ownership of our club will encourage someone with empathy with our club...rather than someone who doesn't understand a club and its fan base like ourselves. :?: :?: :?:

The solicitor for Mr Burnard said that Abdul has so far put £400,000 into Morecambe F.C.

If this is true it shows how much cash we are hemorrhaging ;)

The public accounts show it all. The average losses for the last few years have been £600k - that's how much cash we've been losing - every year! It's been made up of selling assets (land - none left now!), taking out loans/overdrafts from the banks and by the directors (particularly PMG) putting in money.

This season, it seems that it's been Abdul putting it in rather than PMG!

£1,000 for company formation/set up - that's pretty steep - even the top 4 firms of chartered accountants don't charge anywhere near that!

Also begs the question as to why/how a guy from Qatar decides to buy a football club in the UK and seemingly randomly chooses an unqualified one-man band accountant from County Derham to form it?

None of this makes any sense at all.

I agree KenH. None of this saga makes sense. I still believe there is a lot more to this story than we have been told. Something fishy has gone on and now the police are involved it is possible some improper behaviour will be highlighted. I hope it doesn't taint our beloved club even more.

So are things now becoming clearer?

Diego was the front guy for Abdul and his money
Burnard formed G50 to allow Diego and Abdul to buy MFC
Something went wrong with with Diego and Abdul. Abdul tried to back out
Diego did a runner, Abdul left with the financial burden of MFC
Diego's shares transferred to Burnard, who now becomes the new Diego (front man for Abdul)
Diego contests the transfer, but really hasn't got a leg to stand on or indeed a pot to piss in
If (and most likely when) Burnard and Abdul win the court case, MFC will be back up for sale
Joseph Cala might come back into play :(
