Letter from Blackpool Supporters Trust

We received this letter from the Blackpool Supporters Trust that we thought should share.

Dear Visiting Supporters,

I write to you on behalf of the Blackpool Supporters’ Trust (BST) to ask for your support on your upcoming visit to Bloomfield Road.

As you may be aware, Blackpool fans are currently undertaking an ethical boycott against the club’s owners, whose treatment of supporters has arguably been as dreadful as their management of the club. This ethical protest has seen many Blackpool FC fans take a ‘Not A Penny More’ stance, which means they have chosen to not renew season tickets, and/or not to purchase match day tickets for home games, not to purchase any club merchandise and if they do go to home games, not to purchase programmes or refreshments inside the stadium. BST is also organising an ethical boycott of those businesses that sponsor the club as well as other local businesses run by the club’s owners. Quite simply, many supporters will not give the club another penny of their money and have withdrawn their custom.

This decision has not been taken lightly, but over 1,750 BST members, who dearly love their club as you do yours, felt that this was the best choice they could make in trying to rescue our club.

We would initially request that you reconsider visiting Bloomfield Road in the first instance. However we do appreciate that you too want to support your own club and completely respect your decision to do so.

It is quite often the case that there are more away fans than home supporters at Blackpool games these days.

If you do choose to attend the game at Bloomfield Road, we would ask that you support our actions by doing the following:

a) Not purchasing any match programmes or lottery tickets when at the ground.
b) Not purchasing any food or drinks from the kiosks on the concourse inside the ground.
c) Join us in the spirit of fans united and show solidarity with any pre-match demonstrations arranged by Blackpool fans (if such are organised for the game you are attending).

We greatly appreciate your support. Please let us know if you or your fellow fans have any questions or suggestions on the contents of this letter.

Yours in sport,
Blackpool Supporters Trust

Well we should back this as much as we can.
I'm going to the match but won't be buying any beer or food.

"BST is also organising an ethical boycott of those businesses that sponsor the club"

Wow that's a bit extreme that could effect other people businesses and their livelihoods also if they ever got knew owners you still need sponsors to support the club.

Its a free country. If they don't want the boycott then the shouldn't back the club, it's a business decision for them to make.

We won't find that too much of a trial, when me and the Mrs went to watch the Shrimps knock them out of the Capital cup in 2012 we bought a pie each and they were (edit) not very nice!

Yep, nobody's right to scab should be taken away from them.

It stinks what is happening at their club. I'll pay to get in and see us play but I'm happy to refrain from funding law suits against fans for a couple of hours once in the ground.

LOL. Never had so many chuckles in years as we are getting on here just recently. One things for sure the black humour is brilliant and this site has more comedians than any other footy forum I've ever been on. MFC fans may be relatively few in number but they are high in quality and in adversity the forum has gone from a little dull to pure comedy gold. :D

UTS.

I can see The Visitor headlines now, "Morecambe fans mass riot in Blackpool"

"Madame Tussauds, Halfords and MotorMania trashed"

Blackpool have reduced their ticket price for their game against Hartlepool on the 25th of March to £5 for adults and £1 for juniors pity it wasn't for our game with them. Looks as if they are getting desperate it will be interesting to see what effect it will have on the boycott by their supporters.

Interesting and high stakes game being played between BFC and its fans. Whilst the Oysons don't sound like the best owners to have, our recent experience puts a lot of what's going on there into perspective. Boycotting until the club runs itself into the ground is a risky move for me as there might not be much worth rescuing once it eventually hits the buffers.

The Oyston's are a few million lighter tonight after losing a Court case against a Latvian who invested in the club.

Ethical boycott sounds a bit rich too from the thugs I saw smashing up Oyston's Range Rover or charging the door at the Thirsty Scolar.

Blackpool people are frightful beasts, mostly on benefits , I doubt they have money to spend in the ground anyway as it'll mostly go in the pub, the bookies, greggs or up their noses.

Should I be at the game as I plan to be then I make no apologies in the fact I may purchase food and or beverage in the ground. Whilst I sympathise with BFC fans plight it's a free country ain't it and I will choose what I want to do at the time. It's my money after all to spend and enjoy myself, why should I feel intimidated in doing so?

They will be happy tonight as the Oyston family have lost their Court case. BELOKON has won over missing millions.
