The Omega Stand

Just seen on Facebook that during the Summer a cover to the rear of the home stand will be constructed.

It will have TVs etc and the cost has been financed by the directors. A contractor has been appointed to build it.

Apparently it was mentioned at the Awards Evening.

Yes, Rod Taylor broke the news to everyone last night. Not before time too!

Just hope that those who have campaigned long enough for it will now concentrate their efforts in other ways in support of our club. Finances are at an all time low and the new owner can't be expected to self finance all that needs doing. A successful Fans Trust has a major role to play in providing additional funding to support the new owner(s).

As fans we have to support the Trust in all its fund raising ventures either by donation for those unable to participate or by attendance.

Season ticket information leaflets were in the Club shop Saturday. The Club are posting them out this week.

Was a surprise to see the leaflets on the bars at the presentation after no metion in the programme of them. Thought they may have put them in with said programmes, but at least they are getting on with the future of the club. After Sir Rod's speech on saturday night it sounds a lot more promising once the court case is out of the way. A number of things going to happen (hopefully) in a relatively short space of time too! As a fallback Rod has still got Diego's phone number :D :D

DST are the local company behind the structure.
They have a box and also sponsor matches.

Will be interesting to see what they come up with as I can't see anything similar that they've done before.

I suspect that DST will be project managing the work and buying in the respective services as required.

Could be an interesting closed season for a variety of reasons, both on and off the field.

Personally I'm quite optomistic for our club as it moves towards a new era in its history.

:) :) :)

Why they are steel workers who make steel structures. I would imagine that some other local firms will do the electrics and stuff.

Maybe part of the deal could be that it will be The DST Stand once Omega's sponsorship comes to an end :?:

Doubt it, Rod said the Directors are having "a whip round" to pay for it (at a good price)

The directors must be pretty confident then that they will all still be involved next season even with a new owner.

Also that the new owner will be able to back the club otherwise they would need to save their whip round for other more pressing things like paying wages.

The Rod Taylor Stand sounds good to me!

Rod looked in rude health on Saturday and upbeat as I've ever seen him. Things off the pitch seem to be moving really quickly and the announcement of new owners could be incredibly good news.

The investment in the Omega Stand is brilliant news and sorely needed. I just hope that the plans for it are shown to the Shrimps Trust and then shared with other users to make sure there are no little things that could be improved at little or no cost. No one bothered to show fans designs for the Globe and we've paid the price for that. Also well done to the Shrimps Trust for making clear that a plan for the back of the Omega Stand was top of their priority list of actions and for the board for recognising it and being able to act on it so quickly. Thank you!

At the moment we have a board with members who love the club, love the town and are keen tolisten, lets hope the new owner is ''onside'' , as they, like the trust, are limited to what can be done without ownership input and approval, I feel very positive about our future though.

This sums up a lot for me over the last 7 years or so.

Yes, seeing Rod more positive after the last few months is a delight to see, but I am not convinced just yet in all the new optimism around the place. There again, pessimism means you don't feel as let down.

Fingers crossed
