ST: Membership Launch Night + Q&A 27/07/17
Posted: Fri Jul 14, 2017 9:44 pm
The 2017/18 Shrimps Trust membership will be launched on Thursday 27th July at The Globe Arena from 7pm. The evening will also include a Q&A session featuring a panel of current Morecambe FC players and members of the backroom team, compered by Derek Quinn and kindly sponsored by Bentley Electrical. As an added incentive, the first 50 members to sign-up on the night will receive a voucher for a free pie (must be redeemed on the night).
The trustees hope that all supporters that can attend, do so. It is a free event; signing up to the Trust is not mandatory - although it is obviously encouraged! Membership fees have been set at £10 for the season, with a lifetime option available for a one-off payment of £100. The trustees appreciate that this represents an increase in price from Fans Club membership, this is due the additional costs of operating a Community Benefit Society regulated by the FCA - but compares favourably with the membership fees of other trusts. With the additional discount partners that have come forward, we believe the membership still represents great value. We hope an increase in membership from 350 members will also provide additional resources to facilitate some of the trusts specific aims for the forthcoming season - an overview of which will be discussed during the event, with one of the commitments being a central theme for the evening:
The trust has been approached by Jim Bentley for help to purchase 10 additional GPS monitors to double the number currently owned by the club. These devises are worn under a players shirts, track performance and improve the individual player analysis produced by the club. This will enable the whole squad to be monitored during training sessions simulataniously, and allow there use in games (the whole squad must be supplied with the equipment, or they can't be used at all) - currently Morecambe FC are one of the few FL clubs unable to do this. Strength and conditioning coach Chris Squirrel will provide more details about the monitors on the night as part of the panel, which will prove insightful for those interested in the behind the scenes preparation of players and what that entails on a day-to-day basis. The trustees agreed unanimously to support Jim through membership sign-ups and fundraising this year.
For those unable to make the event, memberships can be purchased prior to games in the 'Globe Bar & Grill' (the pending name change will also be a topic of discussion during the evening), and will also be available from the trust website http://www.shrimpstrust.co.uk/membership shortly afterwards.
Just a quick note of thanks ahead of the event; the trusts website and branding has all been kindly created for free by Rob from Single Malt Design, as has all membership sign-up materials which have been printed by Chris from Morecambe Press Limited... both of whom are big Shrimps fans. We are indebted to their assistance to date, and to the many others who have offered help. If you think you can support the Trust in any way, or have any suggestions/ideas/feedback/points you'd like addressing, please email shrimpstrust@gmail.com.
Hopefully we'll see a few familiar faces down on the night ahead of the new season - please spread the word! #StrongerTogether
Cheers
