Jimmy Bell is here snooping, we are obviously putting him into a false sense of security

couldn't make it tonight.

this is a chance or should be for fringe players to stake a claim for being first choice showing what they're made of.

Why I recognise that line up. It's the 1947 cast of the Grand Theatre's revival of Miss Saigon.

To be fair, I thought we played some decent football at times and muller and osbourne look like good signings.

Two scrappy goals 2nd was a foul on our goalie.kev missed a sitter which could have changed the game, thought he was very poor ,to be fair our young team played some good stuff especially 2nd half and could take credit against a full strength carlisle.a fair score, encouraging

Muller and Lavelle looked a good pairing.

Elliot Osborne had a good game and will challenge for a place.

Keeper Dan had a mare :o

Nobody claimed a foul not even Nizic. I can only imagine he was auditioning for a part on a bloopers DVD.

Abysmal. Jim needs to drop his obsession with the three CB system, it's disastrous. Lavelle looked all over the place in the first half and had no idea where to stand but when reverted to a two man partnership with Muller (who was belting) looked miles better, very sound in the air. Osbourne and Fleming are both technically tidy players (even though Fleming sometimes takes an eternity to spot a pass and by then it's gone) but to play them in a typically holding midfield role was moronic and both made them look shoddy. Campbell down the middle is a definite no. He's got good feet and a good first touch but just not physically got enough to play down the middle, was completely wasted there. Let's not talk about Ellison and the shapeless mass of attack and midfield that was set up in the second half.

We carved out some decent passages of play at times as I genuinely do think we have a technically capable squad with players like Wildig, Fleming, Campbell and Osbourne but they're all wasted playing in the ridiculous systems sometimes set out. And please for the sake of all the fans sanity stop starting Ellison.

We played some nice stuff at times but the quality in the final third was appalling. We persisted with some really poor crosses across the box that failed to test the keeper at all (same can be said for corners).

Very poor mistakes for the 2 goals, and I'm afraid for me it wasn't a foul on Nizic it was just very poor play. He went and made a half arsed attempt to get at the ball, and didn't.

Not feeling confident going into Saturday.

Was far more exciting and a huge improvement from Cambridge.

Presume that's the end of Winard for a while, Jimmy Bell was wetting himself

Not many plusses tonight but Muller looks useful especially going forward attacking their midfield which for me would make him a spot on candidate for a position in central midfield.

Loanee Osborne scored 20.plus goals in a season whilst playing in non league resulting in his being signed by Fleetwood. Tonight he was totally wasted playing in a defensive midfield role which begs the question of Jim....why?

Yet again we lost out too many times both in the air and in the tackle in the midfield areas which would see Muller playing in thar area as he is more than competent on the ball when he attacked their midfield.....unfortunately I suspect that our management team will persist with him in defence which for me is a waste of his talents.

Sad to see Kevin a shadow of his former self and t o date has contributed very little to performances.

Fleming is good one minute then poor another, just wish he'd run at the opposition with the ball rather than laying the ball off to a colleague who sometimes is in a worse position than Fleming himself.

Not much good to say about the game for me, my opinions:

(1) Disastrous start and sloppy goal conceded.
(2) Ellison missed sitter, one on one, if scored could have changed the game.
(3) Too many times ball given away from poorly played passes.
(4) Crossing awful. Few decent balls into box.
(5) Second goal was embarrassing, no foul on keeper.
(6) No offence to young keeper but not a good game, if no1 Roche had been in goal certainly would have done better.
(7) Few decent chances created. Infuriating too watch.
(8) Morecambe never ever looked like scoring. One of the few times in my life I have left ground early.
(9) Despite being against relatively local opposition and cheap tickets very low turnout as predicted, although that is a slant on the status of the competition rather than Morecambe fans. Atmosphere akin to that of a pre-season friendly.
(10) Carlsilse had a decent following to be fair, although they hardly went wild when they scored, again celebrations like that of a pre-season game.
(11) Carlsilse seemed far superior technically and ability wise, almost like they played in a division above, not the same league.

SUMMARY:

Don't read too much into result as, at this stage, not a serious competition, and it is the cup. I would be concerned about some individual performances however. On the face of the game there was a clear gulf between the two sides. But it is the 'Checkatrade.'

We have scored 3 , Cheltenham was 2-1 but the goal difference stays the same at zero.

It appears that Jim has gone down the route of keeping it 0-0 and maybe something will happen at the right end for us.

Another game of two halves. First half, we were, again, far too defensive in the 5 at the back formation, and yet still conceded 2 goals. Second half, changed to 4 at the back and we started to attack and our much improved midfield did well to keep the ball out of our half (away from Nizic thank goodness). This is now the common tactic - start with 5 at the back and then move to 4 at the back - trouble is, it doesn't work, yet we still persist with it game after game. High point for me was seeing so many younger/newer players who are clearly hungry for a regular place in the starting 11 and look to be deserving of it. As for long standing players, I thought both Flemmo and Conlon had a very good game indeed but Kev had another shocker.
