Unless there is a sharp upturn in form it looks likely that the club will remain near the foot of the table in the run up to Christmas. If this is the case the directors will have a difficult decision in January when the transfer window opens. Do they spend nothing and continue with the present squad or do they try and reverse the slump by investing in a couple of players. Spending nothing would be a gamble for relegation would reduce the selling price of the club dramatically and the owner would get nothing like the £4.5 million that is considered the selling price. It would surely make better business sense to invest in strengthening the squad- the current squad have shown enough evidence that they are not good enough with goals a rarity. An effective striker is a necessity unless McGurk shows an improved scoring rate when he returns. What a dilemma is looming for the directors.
