Yep, seems G50 have had an offer for paying off the debts and take over providing the Directors resign - deja vous springs to mind.. there's a lot of detail on that Twitter feed - sinister stuff !!

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF MORECAMBE FOOTBALL CLUB LTD

Following the press release by Mr Graham Burnard at 19.00hrs this evening this is the response from the Board of Directors;

There was communication between Mr Peter McGuigan and Mr Graham Burnard today re a possible buyer for Morecambe Football Club.
This was discussed via telephone with members of the Board and Mr McGuigan sent an email response to Mr Burnard at 14.58hrs. The message in this email was very clear and concise with a suggestion that we all meet next week to agree the way forward.
An email response was received from Mr Burnard at 15.00hrs stating, "No problem".
The next thing we heard was a call from the Press at 19.17hrs and an email containing Mr Burnard's press release.
At no time in the earlier conversations or emails was the subject of resignations from the current Board mentioned.
The majority of wages have been authorised and will hit employees bank accounts, on time, tomorrow. The club plans to honour the rest of staff wages tomorrow (28th).
The Board of Directors plan to hold a Press Conference early next week on a date and time to be confirmed and Mr Graham Burnard will be invited to this.

Mentions elsewhere of 'going in to administration' were clearly panic statements, certainly not inferred by the press release.

If anything it shows that Burnard is a liability and this is hardly out of character.

According to a judge in court Burnard, with his own brothers, forged his father’s signature* and described him as, “devious, wily and cynical”. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.chroni ... 804193.amp.

He also posted a completely random post on LinkedIn trying to sell the club to any old random person that was unbelievably poor it discredited him and the football club.

* Judge’s summing up.

“118. Graham’s evidence in relation to the letter of 14th September 2007 is also unsatisfactory. It seems to me that Graham did hand the signed copy of the letter to Ms McCaslin on 24th September 2007. It will be recalled that the letter was addressed to Mr Sim. Graham accepted that he handed over the TR1 on 24th September 2007. He was not able to suggest any other letter he might have handed to Ms McCaslin. It is clear that the signed letter was on Hay & Kilner’s file. To my mind the most likely explanation is that, for whatever reason, Graham did create the letter and did forge his father’s signature on it at some time between 15th September 2007 and 24th September 2007.”

The quote that they want all board members to stand down is very similar to him.

Would like to know who the 2 buyers of the club are as it's not the best timing for the team with needing points on the table with yet again more talk over wages whether there's truth in it or not can't be very good for morale of team

Just heard from a member of staff they haven't been paid yet. Normally in their bank at midnight. They are a bit worried but not heard back from higherups yet.

But why would any new owner want to get did of Rod or any of the board straight away , it would be a public relations disaster . Besides which you would lose years of knowledge from the long standing board members who because they are at the helm of the club manage to secure local sponsorship year on year . Let’s hope this is just paper talk !.

Let us be thankful that Rod and the rest of the board are being open and giving out information to the fans as quickly as possible. It will help curb unfounded rumours. In the meantime now is the time for anyone who posts on here to join the Trust if they have not already done so.

I would imagine it's all about PMG and the loans/liabilities the club has to him, rather than the others. But it's not really equitable to remove just one director and cancel his loans when there are others, albeit far less influential and with much lower loans. It could open up claims of unfair dismissal, preference, etc. Far cleaner to get the entire board to step down and all their loans written off, as then they are all seen to be treated the same. It will be driven by the solicitors advising the purchaser. Pretty standard in business sales to get rid of the management team where it is tainted. The past history of the move to The globe and the ever worsening finances, lower attendances, etc., doesn't look good on the record of any of the directors sadly.

As well as the legalities outlined by KenH, because they probably see the board as the reason the club's in the position they are now. They'll want full control to make their own decisions, unhindered by an incumbent board of directors.

As KenH has said, unfortunately we have a previous majority owner as the Chairman of the Board. It's sometimes standard to have a clearout of management for a business with poor financial circumstances.

It'd be interesting to see if the request still stood if PMG stood down voluntarily (and I guess we'll never know that). The last sale between PMG and the current owner didn't go too well, so for any incoming buyer you don't really want to be dealing with the current owner and the owner before that. With the loans left outstanding to PMG, it's surely a conflict of interest him trying to negotiate a deal for the club (because it will always be affected by what he ends up with, he's human after all!)

I feel for Rod and the other Directors who have put their heart and soul into this club over a number of years and will again be dragged through the mud. I'd like to place on record my thanks to each one of them for all their time and effort in bringing the club we love this far. Whatever happens, you're respected and admired by many many people who love this club.

The thing is, though, that no-one can force PMG to write off his loans. Even if the rest of the Board agreed, they have no power to force PMG to accept it. The club owes PMG his loan and other guarantee monies until either HE agrees to waive his rights or the club goes into administration - no one else can change that without his approval.
