Once again no mention of being responsible for the style of play and tactics that are driving fans away. The manager is responsible for the lack of numbers through the gates. He and his assistant determine the fodder served up and it's obvious that fans are not prepared to pay good money to continually watch what is served up.

A bit of humble pie wouldn't go amiss at the moment and an acknowledgement that they are responsible for the dire postion we are in the league. In previous seasons we've clawed our way out of it. I just fear that this is a season too far.

Maybe it's just a case of only being able to afford, for the time being, players who aren't quite good enough, despite their and the coaching team's best efforts, and we should cut them a bit more slack and be more grateful for still having a club to support after recent problems...

Nights like last night are hard to take for supporters and players and management alike.
4 unbeaten and its quiet, then last night and the same people are back with their familiar lines, as it wasn't a great result.
It's a results business, perhaps changing the line up was deliberate, perhaps Wildig was carrying a slight knock and it was forced?
We have not played as badly as Crewe did last night and won this season.

We must get back to the football we played in that four games, hopefully starting at Brunton Park??

It wasn't a great result, it was a terrible result. Crewe had lost five games on the bounce (badly - conceding lots of goals) and lost in their last eight away games. Given they were so low on confidence it was inexcusable not to up our game, be attacking and tear into them.

Many will be remember when an utterly abysmal Dagenham side, who hadn't won away all season, came to the Globe in a league game and we gave them the freedom of the town and their only away win. It happens too often.

Of course it's fine lines - Oliver's header, Lang's missed flick, two off the woodwork and Kev crossing when he should have shot - and it could have gone the other way. However, stats don't lie and our home record is terrible and nights like last night won't do anything to address sliding attendances.

Difficult to be optimistic at the moment, especially given what's going on, or not, off the field.

Your one man crusade to defend Jim is commendable Freez but come on, how can you defend Jim now?

4 unbeaten? A team a league lower, an under23 side in a piss poor cup, a rare good league performance against Wycombe and a decent draw at Colchester.

Jim is expert at taking over an interview. Once he is asked the first question he goes on to give a full account of how he saw the game etc etc. without stopping for breath. He is very rarely interrupted and hardly ever pressed on issues which we the paying fans would like answers to. To admit that he got it wrong now and again would be nice.

Freeze and Co have a difficult balancing act to do. They have to report the game as it happens but be mindful that they also have the unfortunate task (sometimes under difficult times) to undertake a post match interview with the management. I'm sure they'd like to ask the questions that we ask on the forum but knowing full well that the management could easily put a halt to all future interviews as has happened at other clubs where the media are given no cooperation what so ever.

For me hearing Jim speaking makes me think how exciting Nigel Mansell used to sound!

I may be alone on here, it's not a crusade, it's just my view, but I'm not alone. Tuesday was a poor result after four decent performances, irrespective of the opposition whom we don't get to choose, that's a fact. Dismissing them is easy, as I've dismissed Tuesday's result!
I could ask a thousand questions of Jim, he'd still give the same answers he does as he sees i, as he's honest.

Agree with this. As much as I'd like to be pushing for the top, realistically staying in the league is a massive success based on how much money/fans we have(not much/not many). Sadly some people on here are starting to sound like West Ham fans. It's time they got real and got behind the team and manager.

Ever thought that our current squad are only under performing because of the style and system they are being instructed to play... :?:

For me, we've got some very talented individuals who are more than capable of playing entertaining attacking football, but are having to play a system that simply doesn't encourage them to express themselves. As a result the gates are declining as fans past and present want to see players playing with freedom and confidence which in turn provides positive results both at home and away.

As ever this is only my opinion whilst accepting that others will disagree.

I agree with both of you.

However, I do think we're getting to the point of no return and that could mean we're forced into a change. We've got an absent owner (who is seemingly happy to keep burning money), invisible Chairman (who allegedly hangs around in the hope of a payout) and a proxy controller (who writes irrational press releases, closed a football club and prefers rugby. Who knows what they will do next. With sub-1000 crowds, empty hospitality and poor results you fear the worst and they might try a last throw of the dice if they fear their investment being wiped out through relegation.

That sounds gloomy but I think its a fair reflection of what's happening.

How do you explain the recent positive results, home and away, then?

Recent results came about (n my opinion) because we had a game plan that players understood and also Vadine was on the bench resulting in the persistent use of the long ball that is generally aimed in his direction was no longer an outlet.

I so badly want Vadine to be a success and recall a certain Russ Perkins taking an age to open his goal scoring account but significantly we got more positive results whilst Vadine was on the bench or unavailable.

As I've advocated numerous times before, Vadine needs somebody to work alongside him. He's often too isolated and all his good work in the air comes to nothing. For me it's unfortunate but results suggest he's unable to play the single striker role....at the moment.

Yes , the unbeaten 4 match run came in matches which Vadaine either missed which was the first 3 or came on as a sub in the draw at Colchester.
We look better when playing more fluid mobile players up front.
There is still a part for Vadaine to play but until he starts scoring goals he IMHO should remain a substitute to come on late on to hold the ball up and be an outlet for long clearances.
