Just announced that Wenger is leaving Arsenal at the end of the season.

This means that Jim will move up to 2nd longest serving manager in the 92.

Three managers at Morecambe since July 1994. Not a bad record.

He would have felt right at home at Fleetwood - their home strip is also red shirts and white sleeves.

He over stayed his welcome, with things getting ugly in recent years with fans fighting each other over his Management.

Must be frustrating if your an Arsenal fan, They always seem to be two players away from being finishing top every season, only to sell there best player/players every season, then it all repeats again #groundhogday

Glad there's been an happy ending.

My bet is on the Slavisa Jokanovic the Fulham manager,a guy that likes to get his teams playing total football.Arsenal went for a relative unknown then and look how that turned out.

Will be a few managers in the frame. Rafa Benitez could still leave Newcastle & Arsenal could be a likely destination. Eddie Howe, David Wagner & Sean Dyche could well be in the frame to take over from Wenger.

Can't see Arsenal's French foreign Legion playing under an English or British Manager, especially Sean Dyche, they won't have respect for him, thinking he's just a long ball Merchant and works his players to hard, soft arses.

And Eddie Howe, they'll be like what's he do as a player? Nah if he gets appointed we'll just stroll about playing half heardly untill he gets sacked, then turn it back on again with another Manager.

To much player power in Football.

All 3 are on the coral betting to takeover. Most managers in the premier league who takeover come in & assess the situation then decide who is staying & going. Most likely Arsenal will appoint when the transfer window is open & wheeling & dealing will be done. Whoever comes in will not stick with the same players. Eddie Howe has done a fantastic job & has been mentioned a few times of being Arsenal manager. We will have to wait & see but like I said Sean Dyche is no soft touch either so if they don't play for him they will be out.

To address this small bit of petty xenophobia, Arsenal currently have five English players (six British, with Ramsey) and two French players. England are the most represented nation in the squad. Wenger's sides have often had a strong founding of English players too: Merson, Parlour, Seaman, Keown, Dixon, Wright, Cole, Campbell off the top of my head. Another point, Wenger may be reputed as having a kindly manner (as is Dyche actually, he's known for having a fantastic personal relationship with his players) but brings a sterner side in other ways, being largely credited with the revolution of strict enforcements on player diets and drinking habits. Martin Keown's recently said he still feels guilty having a glass of wine. Also, while calling Burnley purely long ball merchants is naive, they do have a system based on defensive compactness and rely on long out-balls to big strikers (eg Sam Vokes) who can win them.

On who the next manager will be, I think a small-time appointment is very unlikely with the global scale of the Premier League, glory hungry fans (as seen on Fan-TV) and Arsenal now also being owned by American multi-millionaires. It's much more likely to be a big name appointment, I imagine Carlo Ancelotti and Luis Enrique are probably the forerunners in the board's mind at the moment.

no no no, they were Definitely not Wengers players(Tony Adams and Co) They were George Graham's.(Previous Manager)

Im not knocking Burnley being long ball merchants, it's common knowledge that's how foreign players precive English/British players, how many Managers do we have in comparison playing their trades abroad? basically they think where shit, look how long Gary Neville lasted? Plus you can count on one hand how many English/British managers we have in the Premier League

Also the French Foreign Legion, Use to be known as an French Army Unit made up of Mercenaries and ex convicts etc, who are there for a reason, Wenger just as a minimum quota of English players, and has been challenged many a time over the years about this, Ian Wright being one of his biggest critics with this.

True but barring Merson and Wright, the others listed from the Graham era each lasted over five years at the club after Wenger joined. I think that's enough for them to become his players as well.

I wasn't accusing you of knocking Burnley, apologies for any confusion. I was agreeing that people are wrong to brand Burnley/Dyche as a 100% useless long ball lump team, but there is still some founding to that claim as long balls are a main source of out-ball for them. English/British managers are seen as shit abroad because generally, they are shit  We're years behind in skill and tactical awareness than other countries, it's an utter embarrassment and our lack of top level coaches is because of this.

Pretty much all of the big clubs lack in homegrown talent. True, Wenger evidently isn't too bothered by this but hardly any managers in the Premier League are so it's not really worth singling him out. We need to produce better English players, simple as. Supporters of big teams want their teams to win trophies and do well in Europe, and with the current crop of English players that'd be unlikely. Of course, the irony is that many of the supporters of big teams are also probably baying for more home grown talent.
