I've a mate at work who's from Oldham and has followed them right back to when they had that plastic pitch in the old First Division (and used to stuff everyone on it cos' no one could cope with the bounce). Anyways for years now he's been saying that IF we ever end up in the same Division we'll do the two games together. It never quite happened till now so bring it on. I remember going to Boundary Park for a night game in the Rear Windscreen Wiper Trophy (or whatever it was called then). Think Drummy scored, we won 2-1 and it was quite a large attendance because I seem to remember it was free entry. Can't ever remember playing them apart from that. Will be a new ground for Oldham fans to visit so should be a decent crowd.

Didn't we win at Oldham on the way to our Lancashire Senior Cup triumph back in the sixties? I have a vague memory of standing in a big stand somewhere around there and I'm pretty sure it was Boundary Park

Yep, I remember that. Won 2-1 I think - it was cold.

The rear windscreen trophy match at Oldham was drawn and we won on penalties. Pazza scoring the winner as I remember. I think the match involved constant pressure from Oldham and Bazza pulling off a string of magnificent saves.

I think you can add Carlisle to Bury , Oldham and possible Tranmere as big attendances.

Correct, hopefully all those Oldham youngsters that came for free giving it large have grown up now

Yes, that was horrible. We had 3 thirteen year old boys with us and got really menaced coming out of the back of the stand all the way to the car. Decided I never wanted to go there again

My cousin lives in Morecambe and is a Morecambe fan AND an Oldham fan! He went through the mill listening to our match on the radio then had to suffer Oldham's fate all in one afternoon /evening! Still he can now just walk to an away game and not need sponsoring to do it! :D

My mother/father in law are season ticket holders at Boundary Park. They have been supporting them 50 years through to good times & bad times. My partners brother is also a season ticket holder for 25 years. Yesterday for me was a good day but for them I didn't mention it, only when they said we will be playing you next season. He has been to most grounds home & away apart from ours. He said he couldn't get a ticket yesterday for the Northampton game because they sold their 1500 allocation out. Latics will fill our two stands if they get the same following next season. I remember us also playing in a friendly 2/4 seasons back at the Globe. Should be a good atmosphere. Any tips on were to eat & drink I can recommend. Clayton Green which is part of brewers fayre is a good watering hole for fans. Most of the others are in town.

Ha! We were about 2 penalties ahead, Drummy stepped up to score the winner, only to lean so far back that he hit the roof of the stand!

Ha, I'm an old git now so the memory ain't what it used to be. I'd got it in my head that Drummy did something good but it would appear it was something very, very bad. Anyway apart from that I think he had a good game that evening. Oh for a Drummy in his prime now!

Drummy had a great game as I remember. The penalty miss still makes me laugh to this day! It was just one of those surreal moments in football, the pressure was off and so it didn't matter if he scored or not really (seem to remember we scored the next one and I don't think Oldham scored even one of their penalties ?). It was just hilarious to see the whole away support nearly get whiplash as our heads flipped back to see the ball rocket skywards, then everyone take cover as the ball bounced off the roof and back towards us
Still my childhood hero! Best moment of supporting Morecambe for me was 3 Jan 2008 when Drummy came home :D

Yeah, it's not like that any more! Usually a decent atmosphere at Boundary Park these days, a little singing group keeps it noisy for most of the game. Should be even better if we happen to be at the right end of a table for a change! Our away followings are quite strong too.

Congrats on staying up, and looking forward to my first visit next season.
