Not sure if anyone has seen but 538 recently updated their soccer rankings to include way more teams. Included of course are Morecambe who they rank 611/611. Fellow League 2 teams Macclesfield, Cheltenham, Grimsby, and Port Vale are directly above us.

I'm curious as to other peoples thoughts. I was surprised to see us below all the USL teams (at the very least) but I'd imagine part of that comes from the fact that the USL season is more than half over, whereas ours is just beginning.

I'd consider it an honour to be ranked at all-- could be me getting old but where are Accrington ?

Looks like they're listed as Stanley at 548th, unfortunately.

Have to ask 'what criteria do they use to calculate the standings'....

Personally the whole thing is a complete bag of poo.

There is quite an in-depth explanation as to how they work the rankings out if you look at the site. I’m not sure where we’d have ranked ourselves? Smallest club, lowest budget in the Football League, so we’d accept that wouldn’t we? Then you’d have to explain which foreign clubs we should be above?

But is the American soccer set up much better than the conference? Isn't it where the past it pros go for a retirement payment? Also how highly ranked in the football media are 538?
