Vadaine Oliver

Is it purely coincidental that a change in playing style ie playing on the deck has seen a sudden improvement in Oliver's form as was evident last night and in a previous reserve game
The way he ran towards the bench on scoring to receive the obvious congratulations of the management team speaks volumes of their belief in him despite poor performances in the main. I've been a big critic of Vadaine along with others but could it be that the change in style is more suited to his game than that of the lone striker having to endure isolation and hoof ball at the same time. My only concern is that come Saturday he will be in the starting eleven and that he will return to type with Oswell being the one to miss out. We badly need a win but if Vadaine plays and scores it could well be down to playing it on the deck rather than what we have had to endure over the last season.
Jim's team selection is going to be interesting that's for sure....

An improved performance from Oliver, but a few good touches and a goal doesn’t change anybody’s opinion of the man, last nights proved one thing , he is now our third choice main striker. Behind Oswell and Piggot

4th actually, you are forgetting AJ Leitch-Smith.

As I suggested Saturday's line up will be interesting. Wouldn't be surprised if Oliver starts alongside AJ, assuming he's fit, or even Piggot....just concerned that Oswell may be the odd one out.

To be fair he had a good game against Coventry, but that was it
" feed the Vad and he will score"
But we live in hope

Vadaines goal return has been poor but I agree the lone striker role does not suit him and he’d have more luck playing alongside AJ.
He’s lost his guaranteed place in the staring 11 (rightly so) but let’s hope scoring a couple of goals in the reserves and JPT will help boost his confidence.

Or perhaps changing his first name (courtesy of redrobo) has brought about his change in fortune?

You're not the only one Neil, the SV formerly known as George Dawes likes to call him Olivier, as if he's the scion of the late Sir Laurence, and there have been many other misspellings of players' names over the years; I'm pretty certain if someone really wanted to try, they could find one by me. (Posts then hurriedly tracks back through his previous posts to pre-empt Marky No1 - nah, can't be bothered.
)

While you are at it, I'm sure all Shrimps fans of a certain vintage and beyond are pleased that Ben Lavelle is still putting in great performances!
(
not the only one either!)

Keith might have a go at trawling back to see who was the last person to misspell my name?

I think I saw it spelt wrongly in a certain book too.

Bloody spelling police.
In the words of the legendary Christie’s Child...
... you’re all a bunch of loosers.

Christie's ?????
I'd ask Shrimper at this stage if the apostrophe is in the right place or even justified, but he doesn't come on here anymore.

I can confirm that, as the child belongs to Christie the Cat and is therefore his kitten, the apostrophe is an appropriate one. Not sure about your proliferation of question marks though!
