Top bloke spent many an hour on his treatment table when I was younger. Was always amazed the hours the guy worked he would still be at the college at 10pm one night and the next night would.be doing a.midweek away trip with Morecambe.

Edgy was one on his own. Worked alongside him at College in the mid 90's, always good for a story and a smile, very encouraging and patient tutor to many students and his treatment table worked his magic on hundreds of injured athletes, punters and oldies locally. Knew his stuff. Top bloke, sad news indeed.

Fondest memory of Edgey was when we played the Daggers at Christie. Their physio was as big if not bigger than Edgey and with players from both sides down injured there was a race between the two to get on the pitch quickest to register treatment. What a sight. It was a close call but I think Edgey just shaded it. Will live in the memory. RIP.

Further sad news follows to recent loss of top coach Gerry Irving another guy who never got the recognition he deserved from the top.
First met Dave when watching him in goal and my dad play at Carnforth Rangers an absolute passionate gent and a character.
https://www.lep.co.uk/sport/football/th ... e-1-141775We lost our beloved Christie Park and another piece of the heart of the Shrimps was lost losing Dave thanks to the Club Secretary.
So sad RIP Dave Edge condolences to his family

Am sure it will indeed John.
Edgy was our Reserve Team Manager in the 1983/84 season and led the team to winning the Lancashire League Championship.
A league which also included the Youth Teams of Liverpool, Everton, Manchester United etc.
He then went on to become Netherfield (now known as Kendal Town of course) manager before returning to Christie Park shortly after Eric Whalley departed the club in the 1988/89 season as Club Physio.

"Edgy was our Reserve Team Manager in the 1983/84 season and led the team to winning the Lancashire League Championship"
I never knew that.
For me Edgey is up there with people like Les, Chesh, etc long servants where it's not just their job but the club is/was their hobby and life which they devote far more time to than what gets recognised and always going above and beyond what's needed. These are the people that made our club what it is and got us to where we are.

He certainly was mate. He brought a certain David Eyres to Christie Park and look how his career flourished....

Joe Woj didn't think Eyres was good enough for the first team? Odd how he played 600 games at least two divisions higher??
Edgy knew.

Hard to take in, very sad news indeed. Lots of fond memories of Edgey, never one to follow the rules and not afraid to be booked (you can't send off a physio, as he well knew). Stood up for the players more than a lot of people would know.
Only one person wasn't laughing.

Top bloke Edgey. Worked his magic on my Dad and hundreds of players but always from an abiding love for the club, for his work, his students and the town.
Much missed when he left and again now. Farewell Edgey.

An absolute legend of the club and will be sorely missed.
He even put Christie the Cat back together on his physio table after slipping a disc. A varied career to say the least!
Very disappointed to see nothing on the OWS for a man who devoted so much time to the club
